i feel this is the catalyst towards a pac-mayweather showdown in the 2nd half of 2014. what is your ppv prediction and what do you think is the ppv numbers that will force showtime to work on the pac-mayweather fight?
Completely depends on the undercard. If Floyd can get Canelo, Chavez jr, or a Garcia vs Matthysse rematch on there it might almost double what it would do otherwise
Of course the undercard will add more but Mayweather already proved he can sell without it. Remember how much he made fighting Marquez?
Money will find ways to hype this up. And Khan is dumb enough to talk a big game before the fight. I think this will do slightly over 1m.
Chavez? Canelo's already committed to his own ppv on March, July, November. I could see HBO/TR counter-programming this one with a non-ppv just like Showtime/GB did against the Martinez-Chavez card. The only difference is Showtime will make a high marketing investment into the show and still need to pay Floyd his $40 mill guarantee. I'm guessing this one will hover around 700k buys.
depends if floyd tries to charge the same price he did against canelo, or tries giving it away for 50$ like he did with marquez.
with england and other foreign markets in the middle east, this one would be the quivalent of 1.1 or 1.2 million buys but it would sell maybe 850-900k in the U.S.
Well GBP has a very nice roster of fighters and has the ability to make good fights perfect for an undercard. I mean who saw Garcia vs Mattysse being on the undercard of Floyd/Canelo. Personally, I like the Idea of a USA vs UK card May vs Khan - Broner vs Brook - Garcia vs Gavin - Russell Jr. vs Lee Selby would be nice. Blokes accross the pond would buy this.
How many Indians/****stanis live in the US/UK combined? Aren't these guys as loyal to their fighters as the Mexicans?
It all depends on the undercard, which i feel will need to be a good one to make good PPV numbers. But Khan is a big name, and Floyd is, well floyd is floyd, so around 1mil is my guess?
