When Mayweather receives tax advise on this I imagine he'll discount UK straight away. The tax rate for top earners is 50% in UK whilst i'm not an expert on Vegas tax law i've read that there is no state income tax for Vegas so fighters stand to keep more of their money.

Simple economics fights happens in Vegas

Firstly they would find ways around that but......it will of course happen in Vegas.

Highest amount of tax he would pay in Nevada is 35% and I am not sure its even that much.

he'll maybe have the money paid into a company name offshire like the EPL footballers to in order to avoid mass tax rates.

I am sure that a clever accountant could avoid most of the 50%

Floyd is a bit of an anglophile & has said on many occasions he likes the British fans & would like to fight over here.

Mayweather-Khan could sell out a football stadium & be a huge event. Floyd would be very well supported (sorry Laz)

The UK tax limit would have no effect on Mayweather’s earnings. He’s a US citizen and would only have to pay the tax if he stayed in the country for a certain length of time. Presumably he’d only be in the UK a maximum of a month.

I think the gate money in the UK would dwarf anything in the US. Mayweather isn’t a big ticket draw over there, but Khan is over here. That combined with Floyd’s name would make this a big moneyspinner on Khan’s home ground. Add the UK TV money and the US TV money and you’ve got a big event with a lot of earning potential.

the combined draw of Khan and Mayweather in the UK would be huge.

The only problem is they are talking about the fight happening late next year, the only stadium that could accommodate a winter stadium fight is the Millinieum in Cardiff, Wembley's roof doesn't close.

Las Vegas is the only place for this.

Not gonna happen unless its at 3am over here which will affect the gate/uk sales revenue massively.

Mayweather-Khan at Wembley would be epic. I doubt it will happen though.

I'm not sure that applies when you actually earn the money in UK. I read a while ago that Mayweather won't fight in New York because of tax reasons and i'm pretty sure UK is worse

Also, for Bolt to race over here they wanted to charge him a % of sponsorship earnings, which would have been more than his appearance fee.

Yeah, the government had to agree to waive certain tax rules in order to get the Champions League Final at Wembley and apparently it was why Usain Bolt never ran in Diamond League races over here either.

He would still have to pay some sort of tax mate otherwise he wouldn't be able to get a Visa.

I don't think it would dwarph it either. The Casino will pay a massive fee to get a Mayweather fight in there casino to attract the high rollers. The difference between that and 50,000 in Wembley is not that dramatic.

And at the end of the day the biggest earner for all parties involved is the US PPV and HBO would want it Primetime in the US.

That doesn’t make sense. Musicians on tour don’t pay income tax in their visiting country. I won’t pay tax when I’m working in Romania for a month. It’s only if you’re in the UK for a certain length of time or if you were working for a UK-based company and resident in the UK.

I expect GBP would be promoting any fight like this. They’d be writing the cheques, so Floyd would be getting dollars in his home state.

And the point about NYC tax – that’s not really relevant. Floyd’s a US citizen and, since the fight is underwritten in the US on dollars, Floyd is subject to the tax laws of any state he’s paid in. Not quite the same scenario.

At least, that’s how I understand it.
