Timing and feinting. My best way to get a guy with a left hook is by catching a dude who likes to parry a jab away.. keep throwing the jab, feint into left hook.. mmm..
I've been working on that shot. I got the feint high and jab low combo down, but now I'm working on my feint jab and come around with a hook. It's extremely effective
What Floyd can do to Cotto(e) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzvFOYLIYPs#t=20m50s antonio magarito(e) feinted. Cotto(e) realized it was a feint. margo(e) does the same thing and Cotto(e) thinks a jab is coming this time. Cotto(e) reacts by swatting his right hand down as to parry what he believed was to be an upcoming jab. margo(e) instead slightly loops a left hand to get around Cotto(e)'s attempted parry and land a hook. Floyd does something very similar to what I described above below. This content is protected He forced the same reaction Cotto(e) had out of Juan, so Juan exposes himself with a swat parry at an incorrectly anticipated jab. Floyd then loops his left hand around to hook. :yep
The only bad thing with this is, if someone reads it he is wide open for a right hand. Espeically with leaping in, that could do some damage. Whenever I see Floyd do this, I think of the placement of the hook versus the feint. He never leaps in with a jab, only with the left hook. I think fighters see this but misplace their parry thinking the hook will be here, while Floyd shortens the hook inside. Thing of beauty.
