He probably will, he knows everytime he steps in the ring he has to be a bit smarter than the fight before

Fundamental brilliance coupled with superior athleticism is what makes Mayweather a better fighter than Hopkins.

Hopkins, at 36, was looking far closer to his physical peak than Mayweather is right now.

    Compare Hopkins-Johnson to Hopkins-Trinidad.

Now compare Mayweather's earlier fights from 130-140 and you'll see more decline. He doesn't have the legs Hopkins did at that age. If he's going to be a 40 and up wonder, he'll have to be fighting more in the mold of a cruiserweight/heavyweight James Toney who was more stationary. He'll have to be stylistically different from the movement-oriented Hopkins who still showed great angles/trap-setting from start to finish.

Also factor in that Mayweather was at the top levels of the sport earlier than Hopkins was. Hopkins got a late start.

He's not making it to 48 in the ring as a champion. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was able to compete at a really high level at 40, though. And there's nothing wrong with that - it'd make Mayweather one of the very few in history to be able to say that.

I feel like Floyd is going to get Jones'ed. I dont see anybody out there outboxing him over 12 rounds or administering a beating over a long fight

i think eventually Floyd slows down just enough, thinks he has the guy timed and eventually gets nailed

im a big fan of his but i just think this is whats going to happen eventually barring he doesnt retire before he is 39-40

Floyd has, at most, 5 fights left versus elite level competition. Five fights will be about 2.5 years. I just don't see him able to compete at the highest level in 2.5 years.

BHop hasn't been able to compete at the elite level for years. He still beats top guys, but not the highest echelon. I'm thinking Ward, Froch, Kessler, etc. BHop shouldn't fight any of them. Floyd's time fighting that echelon of guys is very limited.

:patsch he's already getting roughed up more. And doesn't have the physical aspects hops had. Hopkins wasn't a ko boxer, but hit very hard. Floyd doesn't do stuff like that while barely getting hurt. Very simplified take from you.

I highly doubt he fights past 40. His legs won't hold up.

I suspect TRT. Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

If you remain injury free and in good health. TRT can keep an athlete operating at a high level for many years past what would of been the end of their career.

Nope. Hopkins' best performances came late and Floyd was best a decade ago.
