I don't think Floyd or Pacquiao can make 140 like people claim.

If rumor about Black guys are true Floyd would be 158 also. From the picture we seen Floyd is short about 8lbs of muscle where it counts so 150 sound about right for Floyd.

In the modern era of cutting weights and weigh in's the day before, If Floyd was cutting the same weight as most fighters, he would probably be fighting at 140 still. In the previous eras of same day weigh ins he would be a WW though.

He is usually outweighed on fight night every time. Maybe this is an advantage though, he can spend less time cutting weight and more time on actual boxing training.

I'm always wanting to see Mayweather take a challenge but i don't ever expect him to go up to 160. He's really not big enough for 160 and the only people who want him to are the ones who are desperate to see him lose, the fact he has won titles at 154 should be applauded, on natural size and the guys he's fighing and how much he's outweighed in the ring, he probably doesn't have much business at 154. Nobody is asking Rigondeux to go up to 140 are they? That's about a similar jump as Mayweathers natural size to a Middleweights natural size who is probably going to be 170-175 come fight night.

Maybe Floyd is always in ripped fighting shape all year round and most fighters are not. Do people also believe Froch could make 160lbs by dehydrating? I'm sure there are other examples too.

I always wondered if it's an advantage or not. Argument can go both weighs because yes you are bigger on fight night (Maidana) but you are more used to your fight night weight (Floyd).

i agree, there are, or were, bigger more lucrative fights at 140 than the ones either fighter has been fighting lately. if 140 was easier to make, why not take the bigger purse and the prestige of being multi division champ all at once?

Exactly. Pac would fight Algieri at 140, just like Roach said Pac was going back down. And Floyd could've taken Danny Garcia at 140 instead of Maidana. They can't make that weight without being drained or weakened in my opinion.

corpsejr couldnt even make 144 200yrs ago captain obvious.

pac will be fighting at c/w of 144 soon.

could he still make 140? remains to be seen. maybe if there is a fight big enough to take on.

maybe shiming can do 140 in 2 years time.

I'm still confused about this fight considering the WBC Light Middleweight title is on the line. Will Maidana be allowed to weigh in above 147 for this? :nut

That's ridiculous to me. That JMW strap should not be on the line for this fight. He only negotiated that so he could keep it longer without being stripped. And the WBC agreed because they get a sanctioning fee.
