Mayweather/Maidana... Thoughts after the fight and questions

However you scored the fight, It was a good competitive battle where both put in a great performance.
What I did think when watching is that Floyd seemed to hold more than I have seen previously and was complaining to the ref. It is often not a good sign when a fighter is looking and complaining to the ref and looking to hold. It is also not good when fighters try and referee their own fights.

    Questions now

How did you score the fight / who did you score for

Is Mayweather slipping or was Maidanas footwork and fighting style just all wrong for Floyd

    Seperate...

I made a thread after Maidana beat Broner below

First I have to say what an excellent contest where both competitors showed great fighting heart.
Although Broner lost, he showed amazing spirit and heart to fight on, even when hurt.
Maidana showed something different (we will get to that) and as underdog won in a hard fought battle.
    Congrats to both men

    Now...

After watching the excellent battle between Adrian Broner and Marcus Maidana, I was very interested with how Maidana has changed his style and taken on using the aggressive European style, which is what I think carried him to victory.
I think Broner would benefit by going to Europe and learning how to counter that style to enhance his already proven natural ability.
Styles make fights and watching last night I felt Broner would be exposed if fighting on the European scene at WW. Tough excellent WWs who can fight and counter that aggressive style in Brook, Gavin and Ion would also have made for a long night.

It seems this style has served him well

as I've said in other threads today, I think Floyd is bored with the sport
if he does follow through with his showtime contract, it could be very interesting

I've always said Floyd is the person most likely to beat Floyd (a pac fight 4 years ago withstanding), and I think the maidana fight showed signs of that

maybe you missed the "I've always said..." at the beginning of the sentence
Floyd is the best boxer on the planet hands down - the maidana fight raised questions about his motivation to keep fighting for me

Do you not feel Maidanas unorthodox style caused him problems as well as his footwork and being able to close the gap

tons of *****s were saying that Maidana would not land a punch or win a round. that the fight would not be competitive. they are butt hurt today. if there is a rematch Maidana will take it.

I was one of these people, but I am not Butt hurt in the slightest.

Maidana did well, but IMO still clearly lost the fight.

Not really much else to say

I think it benefitted him because Floyd wasn't motivated for the fight
    that's only my opinion
I think Floyd is fighting for money. I follow both pac and Floyd on facebook, and Floyd has never promoted the anniversary of any major fights (as lennox lewis does). Instead, he flaunts his wealth.

I think Floyd is just fighting for money now, and if he did fight amir khan in his next fight, i'd put some money down on khan

No, Floyd was just not his usual self last night, off his game and distracted. For all Maidana's efforts even a disinterested Floyd was too much for him and won the rounds he did win easily. Just wish he'd stay off those damn ropes!
