Floyd's had half as many fights on PPV. An average buy rate of each fight would be a better statistic.

Trying to pigeon hole the Marquez vs Cotto PPV's is just as daft as the people trying to claim Mayweather is asking more because Mosley drew more than Clottey.

Try looking at the bigger picture and you will see Mayweather brings in more money, now knowing he brings in more how can anyone justify him not taking out more?

Why not pressure Pacquiao to take less than 50/50 to get the fight made?

50-50 is just fair for a fight of this magnitude. the biggest fight since chavez-whitaker. floyd and pac was fine with 50-50 before. the difference in ppv is not much to even demand a lion share. 50-50 should be fair for both, anything else is just plain pricing himself out of the fight.

I hear what you are saying, but you keep looking at it from a fans perspective instead of a business perspective for all parties involved.

They both need each other. But mayweather making an estimated 40million against an old mosley is quite impressive regardless of the machine behind it.

Fact is Pac had a great deal back in March and for his own reasons turned it down. With mayweather's ego and making 40 million without Pac, did we really expect him to offer 50/50 again, even when after the first negotiations fell through he said he would never offer that deal again.

Any floyd fan, answer this question.

Who can floyd draw over 1 million with right now?
Which boxer would he be able to fight and get over 1 million ppv buys?

because floyd is being a primadonna and all. 50-50 is fair why keep moving the goal post? for the record it would be fine with me even if pac accepts a 30-70 share but we know that pac is worth more than 40% which floyd is offering.

I haven't ruled out the idea that they let the march 13th date slip because it was so close, thinking they could fight later in the year.

I actually believe all parties thought this.

You say Mayweather and De La Hoya drew more because people didn't think Pacquiao had much chance, but switch that around and which one did you think would be more of an even fight out of Pacquiao vs Cotto and Mayweather vs Mosley?

pac vs cotto... I actually picked cotto to win. I lost money on it.

But you have to remember the bad guy vs good guy element of may vs mosley.
All floyd fights have that bad guy vs good guy spin, and when they don't, like in marquez vs mayweather, they have to appeal to a base.... like mexican fans.

    How is 50/50 fair?

I agree Pacquiao is worth more than 40% which is why he should be open to negotiate to get a split around 55/45 and not be so stubborn.

Could well be the case. I myself would love to see the fight and couldn't care less who gets what share. However I ain't going to pretend to not understand from a business stand point where mayweather is coming from with wanted the bigger share. Even if that means risking the fight for all us boxing fans. Mayweather don't fight for the fans he fights for himself, if i'm not mistaken i think he has said this himself.

Saying that i would have to flip that last statement and ask the question if pac indeed fights for the fans and mayweather doesn't then should Pac accept the smaller purse based on that principle?
