my estimate would be 2.2 million in this climate, would probably be more if it wasnt going to be shown for free on sky tv. however the basic and most simple strategy to use when judging how to give them the right purse would be to select several of their last ppv sales and see who has done more. i think i know the answer to this it doesnt make sense to argue that fighter A or fighter B wasnt fighting a good opponent as a reason to justfiy why they sold less because that is their fault and a bad career move or finncial decision on their half. another thing is the fact that fans are saying that floyd spemnds more on marketing, this may be true but if that means you automaticaly receive more in ppv sales then bob arum and any other promoter would spend millions and millions to promote the fight. it obviously has to be attractive to the public
That soundbyte was done during an interview before the first round of negotiations. It's irrelevant at this point considering Mayweather agreed to a 50/50 split in Dec., after doing this interview.
I feel embarrassed knowing exactly what you're talking about. Whatever, I didn't know a kid in my neighborhood who didn't follow wrestling. But a hero will always sell better with a credible bad guy mountain to topple, hence DLH vs floyd being 2.4 mil. DLH was supposed to be the knight in shining armor who shut that **** talking floyd up. Now pac is the next guy in line who is supposed to shut this guy up, and a lot of fans believe it can happen. The stage is already set and even the casual fans want to see this. There is no reason both guys shouldn't be putting every effort into making this fight happen. I get a feeling someone doesn't want to lose their shine in this one.
I'm not debating that both will make an insane amount of money out of this one if it does get made, what I'm saying is that Mayweather is the bigger draw and while I'd like them to get the fight signed I can see his point by demanding more and I don't think it's unreasonable for them to negotiate to a settlement of around 55/45 in Mayweather's favour. Pacquiao's stance of refusing to negotiate from 50% isn't helping the situation.
I'm expecting this bout (if it happens) to break all records...especially with the amount of promotion we could possibly be seeing. Mayweather won't come close to the numbers the Pacquiao bout will get with any other opponent right now. Same goes for Pacquiao. Which in my opinion, makes this a true 50-50 bout...I see any previous PPV numbers as irrelevant at this point. They both need eachother in the ring, and they both need eachother to gain the predicted PPV figures what are being thrown around.
Nice avatar. Yeah. That is my main point. Pac vs Floyd is the only fight of this magnitude because each side represents 1/2 of the biggest possible fight in our lifetimes. Why would floyd deserve more than 50%?? He's not more than 50 of the promotion or draw. I bet if you polled most people who would order this fight and asked "who are you ordering for" or "why are you ordering this fight" it will be because of pacquiao or to see pacquiao knock floyd out. Casual fans are what the boxing promotions aim for. They already got us boxing addicts.
He doesn't deserve 50/50 as Mayweather is clearly the bigger draw. I want to see Pacquiao fight without steroids.
Margarito...everyones favourite plasterer. Although I think Mayweather is definitely becoming more popular all round after the Molsey win, including casual fans...the majority of casual fans are going to watch this bout to see Pacquiao win, or to see Mayweather lose like you said.
When was he caught fighting with steroids?, and your accusations are based on what?, Mayweather Sr.? You know that this entire crew hates on Pacquiao, it doesn't take brains to recognize this and their insults have gone way too far and it's shocking some people actually believe it. I don't even think the accusers believe it for the likes of you to believe it.
