i just find it too incomprehensible at this point.

i am amused at the fraudettes claiming the king is back when independent sources have proven that gate receipts is only in the vicinity of $6.8m. ticket sales is always indicative of ppv sales.

second, people talk too much **** that fans should not worry too much about the money aspect of it. that is a myopic view considering boxing is a business.

with good money for boxers, we will assured of great match-ups and hopefully rid of supposed superfights ending up with 120-107 score.

the thing is, we should be concerned about how fights are made and how much money is there for the boxers. incentive in the form of cash will motivate boxers to give a good fight.

some fans here are just too dense to realize this. boxing is a sport at the same time a business. boxers don't climb up the ring for professional glory but for financial gain.

No it doesn't indicate PPV buys. Like I said, Baldomir/Mayweather didn't sell out yet made more PPV sales than Morales/Pac which was sold out.

Good you admit and yes it's true people want to see him lose, as long as THEY DO WANT TO SEE HIM, what's the ****ing problem?

It's obvious you're not a fan of the sport and would be happy to see certain PPVs FAIL just to feel good about Pac and you act like a 15 year old doing so.

Ali started with A LOT of negative publicity too, people BEGGED to see him KO'd early in his career and laughed out loud at him whenever he called his self the greatest.

Negative, positive or whatever, in the end if people tune-in he's doing right.

    scar. your misreading me.

do not compare two fights. what i meant is that the ticket sales for the jmm-pbf fight will be indicative of the ppv purchases for the fight itself.

that is simple marketing knowledge. the promotion is reaching out basically to the same market, the pbf/jmm and hardcore fans who want to watch the fight.

    either live or through ppv.

it has been reported that the ticket sales only amounted to $6.8m because only 12k tickets were sold. the venue did not sell out. hence, the ticket projection was off because they were not able to sell out the venue.

in the same manner, ppv revenues should not be able to reach internal projections considering it should follow the trend of the ticket sales.

i agree that this fight might have done better than what we hardcore fans expected because of the sentimental hope that jmm might be able to pull it off.

realistically though, from a business perspective, you would assume that you will hit 100% of your target. both ticket sales and ppv. but in this case, this does not seem to be the case.

And you're proud being a fan of boastful boxer whom many would like to see beaten the **** out of him??... An unprofessional boxer who disrespected our sport and his fellow boxer by not making weight without any valid reasons?? It's up to you, it's your choice...

i honestly hope the ppv numbers are true... if thats the case then it makes up for not selling out. I really hope that GBP are not completely inflating the numbers....

Moreover, if it DID do that good, i hope that people liked what they saw and want to tune in for more boxing.

I think the PPV buys turned out to be the way they are because of Mayweather's long awaited return. Like there are MANY who pray to see him lose there are some that root for him.

Just look at ANYTHING involving Mayweather it immediately attracts fans within seconds and EASILY.

Whether negative or positive doesn't matter, the attraction is there.

Most people also believed Pac vs Marquez is 50/50 going in so neither men were overlooked and still the buys were very poor compared to Mayweather vs Marquez where almost ALL picked Mayweather based on weight advantage.

Unlike you, I don't have my eyes on fighter's balls or who they have sex with in their personal lives. I admire the man's ability to fight, his ability to come in 100% despite obvious INSANE negativity and hope of seeing him KILLED in there. He handles that kind of negative pressure VERY well and like a professional and delivers what he's supposed to in the ring without freaking out or screwing up. Even Pacman his self admitted he's impressed. Freddy Cockroach is just talking smack like he did to Morales, DLH and many other possible Pac opponents. He, like you and almost all Pac fans(myself NOT included) were begging the Marquez fight makes **** poor sales and LOSE brutally to UFC.

A man who helped bring 24/7 on the big picture, attracts a lot of PPV buys, is mentioned in ANY current mega fight possible to make and is working his best to defeat UFC all the way(Marquez fight was a dominating start, imagine fights with Mosley or Pac). Hell, his fight is also the first in a long time to be aired in theaters, not just 24/7. All that and the man is bad for boxing?. The man's first move IMMEDIATELY upon return is a punch right on UFC's nose and he landed it successfully when EVEN BOXING FANS were standing next to UFC fans and rooting against him hoping he does 0 PPV buys. It's such situations that exposes fanboys from real fans.

Let me tell you, he's not just great for boxing but he's also great for Pac. You know how much money Pac is destined to make if that fight is taken, right?, both guys complete each other at this point and need one another. If Mayweather isn't here is there ANYONE out there to provide a HUGE fight for Pac and a fight worth retiring after if Pac wins?, the answer is no. Pac made less fighting DLH than Mayweather did fighting Marquez, enough said.

All this money talk is another MAJOR negative in boxing, SO many good fights going away because of money and PLEASE don't tell me it's Mayweather's fault. Like Mayweather has demands, Pac, Roach and almost his entire team all have demands as well and they're NOT only money related. These guys will stick their noses all the way to weight and add more complications. So if you think Mayweather is not helping MAKE the fight, Pac isn't doing any different either.

Got to be reasonable and logical. I know Mayweather is a future Pac opponent and I'm a fan of both as you know and WON'T turn into a disrespectful fool just to defend fighters I support who are rumored to fight others.

    scar, that is always expected.

pac/jmm. both are non american fighters fighting in the US. marketing and economics are always ethnocentric.

america has what, 300m population with a much higher per capita income. therefore. pbf has a very big ethnic/country fanbase to draw from.

unlike jmm/pac who both come from countries with much much lower economic might.

pbf fighting is always good. because there is a sort of bad guy to play the role. the thing is, he needs to man up and face better competition.

Don't think GBP will **** around with numbers. They didn't lie about DLH/Pac which did far less than expected, didn't lie about Hopkins/Pavlik making NEARLY 200k and so on.

Boxing isn't UFC, they don't lie about how much they make per event and have no reason to lie.

Can't disagree with anything there, excellent post. At least you admit there are many who do tune in, I thought some people said the man has "zero" followers and no one gives a **** about him?

About stepping up in competition, that's what I'm hoping for as well. Either Pac or Mosley next, anything lesser than that and I won't defend it. Yes I will order/watch but won't defend it in arguments.
