And Floyd is a genunine WW? How many WW's do you know that come into the ring weighing 149 lbs? And how the hell can you say height is irrelevant? Height is often a big factor in boxing. Taller, longer boxers are better able to control the distance against their shorter foes. Floyd would be at a huge disadvantage trying to outbox a 6'3 LHW. He would be at a much bigger disadvantage than JMM would be against a 5'8 WW. This is common sense.
Why the **** are you going on about height for? There's no height restrictions in divisions, there's no relevance in it. It's ALL about weight. And you're continually disregarding the fact that Marquez is NOT a natural lightweight. He was a career featherweight, his body hadn't grown with time and age, unlike Pacquiao, Mayweather etc.... and therefore you shouldn't use 135lbs as a acceptable starting point with your figures. 130lbs I'll accept. 135 is taking the ****.
Do you even watch the sport? You don't think the Klits use their height to their advantage when they fight? You don't think Williams' height gives him advantage against Welters? Let's stop with the lunacy here. No ****, but Mayweather is not a natural WW either 130 is fine, but then you would have to put Mayweather at 140. Mayweather was a career SFW and continually enters his WW bouts at about the same size as a typical JWW.
None, although there are probably some. And Sam Soliman come in a lighter weight on fight night against Winky Wright than he did in the weigh-in. It's unusual for fighters not to put on much, but it happens. Some fighters prefer not to struggle too much to make a weight - doesn't mean they can make the weight below without a struggle.
Of course it's can be advantageous to be tall, but height doesn't equal size outside the heavyweight division unless the fighter puts on obscene weight between the weigh-in and fight night. And shorter fighters can do that too. And how the **** was Mayweather a career super-feather?! He spent less than 4 years there. Marquez spent over 13 years at 126 - THAT'S a career weight. You're so full of **** it's unreal. Also, I highly doubt Mayweather can make 140 easily, otherwise he would for this fight. No-one does a catchweight unless the heavier fighter can't get down to the lighter weight.
LMAO at Floyd making a comeback(who would have predicted that) and of course picking on a 35 year old guy who'll have to move up about 2 divisions! Let's start a trend and call this guy a cherrypicker!
If you like technical boxing matches... dont miss this one. Marquez best bet is to hope the ring rust will have affected Mayweather enough... it WILL have had some affect but will it have been ENOUGH of an affect for a JMM win ?... I doubt it but I cant wait to find out. :happy
Hopkins spent a decade at 160, you still think he can make that weight? You really think Pac can get below 140? Once fighters move up in weight, it's hard for them to get back down.
Height is a a component of size. No reasonable person would say that Cotto and Margo are the same size because they both fight at Welter. He fought most of his fights at 130. That's hilarious coming from a guy who claims the size difference between Marquez and Mayweather is the same as between Mayweather and Dawson. I already explicitly pointed out how your 17% figure is complete bull****. He hasn't fought in almost two years, so his walking around weight is probably higher than it was when he was active. I've seen plenty of fighters take tuneup bouts at a higher weight after being out of action for a while. Again, no one is disputing who the bigger man is. However, to equate this fight to a Mayweather/Dawson fight is completely asinine.
