K man you need to check yourself cause you just wrecked yourself. First of all HBO and Showtime aren't free TV. I know a lot of people who don't have them. Why don't you go check out some WEC which is UFC's sister company that promotes the lower weight classes 125-155. There have been numerous FOTC and all the athletes are seriously world class. And guess what, it's all on VERSUS, basic cable...and they have a good following drawing way bigger numbers than espn cards. You can hate on the UFN and TUF Finale cards all you want but your ****ing stupid if you don't think it advantageous to showcase your young fighters and the sport itself on cable. Yeah some of the striking might not be the best, but sorry if this hasn't occured to you yet but MMA ain't BOXING. You don't NEED striking in MMA, it's nice to have but there are MULTIPLE ways to win.
Wow, where to begin. UFC is NOT about superfights, they're all bout promoting lower tier fighters. People KNOW lower tier fighters which makes them want to buy ppvs. Since people know the fighters they have more chance of seeing 2-3 fights on each card that they are actually interested in. They sell. "Was Credeur/Quarry entertaining? Yes, but some people think train wrecks are entertaining." So you enjoyed a train wreck, that makes at least 2 of us, so did many more. It sure as hell more entertaining than watching grass grow. And read above, HBO and Showtime are premium channels. Those arn't exactly free, they're cheap. Again, average redneck won't get to see that fight and won't know wtf is going on with boxing or boxers. Skills sells to those who can appreciate it. Entertainment sells to all. If you like skill over entertainment than I suggest you start watching darts on ESPN: the Ocho.
