If Floyd doesn't sign a fight by May 1st, Ring Magazine will remove him from their "prestigious P4P list": http://sports.inquirer.net/breaking...ther-may-be-removed-from-pound-for-pound-list We all know PBF is a top P4P fighter, but I suppose his inactivity will have inevitable consequences.
Where's the pressure? When he comes back they'll reinstate him. I doubt he'll care mate to be honest.
He's just inactive, simple as that. he'll announce a fight with Ortiz/some other hypejob on the week before his Ring deadline I think. Or maybe on the Saturday morning before the Pac/Mosley fight. Yep, thats just something Floyd will do IMO
I'd agree that Ortiz is most likely. Pac and Martinez aside, is an Ortiz fight the biggest crowd-pleaser out there for Floyd?
so he should lose his ranking. he's been inactive for a year (in may) never before has a number 1 ranked pound for pound fighter, when faced with his biggest rival, in a fight everyone dreams about, where he can earn more money than any other fighter has ever made, has suddenly lost his urge to fight. he wants nothing more to do with it.
Well, he was #2. He gets retired at #3. Maybe he comes back at #4 (When Donaire cleans up 118) or maybe #5 (Klitschko brutalizes Haye)
Floyd I believe is trying to sit and wait for the most money, the only fight that can get him that right now is a Pac fight. He better hope Pac wins MAY 7 or all that money is going out the damn window. If he thinks he's going to get 100 mil to fight Ortiz or any other WW he's delusional. This stupidity of sitting out will cost him somehow, we just don't know how yet. When you think you are just that much above everybody else you get a rude awakening. As far as I'm concerned he's retired, give the spots on the list to active fighters. It doesn't matter anyways, if he comes back and beats anybody he will re-enter the list.
I really don't think he's that concerned with his Ring ratings where he's going to jump into a fight just so he doesn't get knocked off. It's not like he wasn't willing to be dropped from the ratings during his last vacation.
A fight with Ortiz would be an absolute joke of a matchup for a man who has came off layoffs before and got in the ring with Marquez & Mosley. It'd be like that time he fought the future hall of famer - Baldomir. :rasta
Look, I dislike Mayweather as much as anyone here, but I wouldn't fault him for fighting Ortiz. Big Welterweight, young, has KO power and just beat the **** out of the other supposed top Welter whose name isn't Manny. Obviously I would prefer he stop being a ***** and pick Manny, but honestly Ortiz isn't a bad fight. Who else other than Manny would you pick?
why should he, as the other guy said when he schedules a fight they will rank him number 2 again at once.
