Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

Neither guy is making what they claimed that they would make.

 

Really? You must've missed all the threads made on that when you just Joined on Monday....

 

So why does it bother you that Mayweather is fighting Mcgregor? You don't even like the guy so why does it bother you?

 

Why are people so butt hurt about this fight. Take it for exactly what it's worth, an entertainment spectacle. The lead up to the fight should be dramatic and the fight itself, while all but already decided, has an interesting dynamic which hasn't been seen at this level. Will mayweather win? Of course. Will anyone really consider it when talking about his legacy? Aside from trolls, no.

So in the end I see this as an opportunity to gather some friends together, have some drinks, and watch the boxing equivalent of WWE.

The only downside, and this is why I honestly think some people are up in arms (including the author of that article), is IF mayweather somehow loses. If that 1 in a trillion shot lands and kos Floyd, boxing is all but dead. Long time fans will be devastated and will hold a life long resentment toward Floyd. In the end this won't happen though. Enjoy the fight everyone, it'll be comical at the very least.

 

Boxers have better technique, chins, and punching power than mma fighters. That's a proven fact.

 

It doesn't bother me. nor must it for one to admit it's a waste of money to anyone who buys it. Why do other people's opinions bother you smart guy?

if conor wins it would change everything i thought i knew about boxing

on 1 side you have a boxer regarded by me as the best defensive fighter i have seen in my 50 plus years who has been 12 rounds untold times

on the other side you have a man from another sport having his very first fight in proffesional boxing whose own sport only lasts a few seconds to a few mins .

you have to think mayweather plays safe for 2 rounds and then simply uses his skill and experience to make this fight embarrisingly one sided to watch v a man who has no chance .

mcgreagor to me is not even a 1000 to 1 shot to win .

if canelo could not touch mayweather i have no understanding how people think mcgregor will .

It will mean Floyd didn't train, he's 40 and Conor is young, trained his ass off and probably got lucky.

 

In terms of BOXING prowess.. YEAH.

 

i dont like mayweather the man but one thing he has never done is enter any fight not in great condition

his style is saftey fight so he has not had wars / 40 is old for a boxer but he has shown he is still razor sharp / the you tube footage of conor sparring make him look like what he is a fighter who will clearly be out of his depth

 

Insofar as chin and power are concerned there are MMA guys that I would put up there p4p with almost any boxer. It's the boxing technique wherein a boxer is streets ahead, and it usually shows when an MMA guy tries to cross over.

 

I wish I could profit from the stupidity of those who buy this.
I will watch it free, though.

 

Boxing is fighting distilled down into a specific set of skills within a specific set of rules. In a real fight, Conor would kill Fluid w/o breaking a sweat.
