Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

The Octagon because it's the place that's the most brutal and mimics a street fight more rather than the heavily restrictive rules of boxing. We get to see the Great Mayweater outside his comfort zone from a different perspective.

MMA is to mens boxing as mens boxing is to women's boxing. It's just much better for real FIGHTS regardless of the talent pool.

 

MMA is the more complex sport and therefore it requires more than just "talent" to reach the highest levels.

 

I agree, I think it's tougher than Boxing. There are so many more variables to consider at any given time. There's a reason when people fight, they use more than just their fists on stand up game.

 

The bit of MMA that people tend to enjoy most is the striking aspect anyway, so I'd rather watch them box.

UFC is for goths

 

Mayweather never claimed to be able to compete in MMA.

McGregor is the one who is making noises about being able to compete as a boxer.

 

Id like to see McGregor fight. But Mayweather would stink the place out like he did against Pac Man.

Canelo, Pac Man or GGG would be a better opponent. Maybe a tune up fight with amir lol

McGregor wouldn't even win a British title let alone actually compete with a world class fighter like Floyd Joy or even Malignaggi for that matter.

In fact he could become a rare stoppage victory for Paulie.

 

Interesting... if this were an MMA section. I'm a fan of boxing, not boxing wannabes...

 

typical yank style fight - massive hype and build up to drag in the casuals - then a **** one sided "fight" which makes both guys rich while providing next to no entertainment

 

I think all the MMA guys who talk about challenging champion boxers should have a box-off among themselves, and the winner gets a shot at a legitimate boxer.
Likewise all the boxers who mouth off about beating MMA fighters should fight off under UFC rules before they are given entry into MMA.

Alternatively, they could all just shut the f--k up.
