Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

Going out of my way to buy and have a fight party for this, a proper boxing match that's being overshadowed by a sideshow JOKE.

 

It's a pity and floyd did this intentionally to take GGG canelo shine away.
Generally I'm ok with floyd, but I dislike him for this.

 

Will his uncle come up and fan a brawl? That will justify the ppv but it won't be good for Connor though, he might get his purse held.

 

I really was expecting more MMA/UFC idiots in the crowd. After all, they are the ones who think McNugget has a chance in this fight and they'll make up the bulk of PPV sales too.

 

The only way this would be good for boxing is if Floyd KO's Connor in impressive fashion. Then some of the casuals will watch boxing more often than other combat sports. But if its a boring fight, this will hurt boxing. I'm certain casuals will say "well this was boring because it was a boxing match, if it would've been MMA Connor would've smoked him under 3 mins "

If Connor does the impossible, well you know....it will be a shame to say you're a boxing fan to any combat sports fan.

So...what are the chances this will be good for our favourite sport, and what are the chances this will end up hurting boxing as whole ? I'd say its like 25-75 this will hurt boxing...only because a MMA fighter should gas out fairly quickly in boxing, but then again I'm not sure Floyd will push for the KO, he never does

Its more likely that Floyd will want to toy and humiliate Connor, and the Irishman when he'll see the huge difference in skill set will go into surviving mode just so he can say at the end " I never boxed as a pro yet I went 12 rds with the best ever in boxing I'm the king of combat sports, I would've KO'd Floyd under 1 min in the octagon " and puff his chest, thats how he'll try to save face.

Thoughts ?

 

People may not have had the appetite for two PPV events after September. People start saving for Christmas and things get tighter financially. Might as well capitalise now while people still have an interest.

This wont affect GGG fight in any way

I agree with your first part but I do think it will affect a bit for the casuals. I hope they are wise enough to chose the later

That....was terrible. Mayweather just repeating himself over and over. Granted Guerrero has the charisma of a spud so he looks bad in comparison but that is some seriously boring and unimaginative trashtalk

If this gonna be boring you think many casuals will feel like buying another boxing PPV in 3 weeks ? I'd say no

This will affect the buying rate of Canelo vs GGG, why the hell do you think they put just before that fight and not after, like in October ?

It was purely to **** Oscar's marinating recipe. All that was for nothing now, they'll do whatever they would've done a year ago and maybe even less than that.

What was wrong with October ? Nothing, there are plenty of PPV's in October. UFC does PPVs anytime even on 30 DEC when you say people are broke
