Why isn't it a street fight? It's a fight and it's on the street. Are there any rules in street fights? Is there some sort of Marquess of Queensberry style rules of what a street fight is and isn't? Is there a rule that you can't have friends with you or a weapon? There aren't any rules and yes, like I said, anything can happen in a street fight, Tyson could lose and so could Foreman.

******ed UFC fans go on and on about how MMA fighters would do well in street fights but then what is a "street fight" anyway? Any confrontation on the street is a street fight and there are so many scenarios on how it can go down.

What happened to Falcao is the definition of a street fight.

Go and walk into some tough neighborhood and confront people with your MMA skills and see how long you will last until someone stabs you or you get jumped by a group of people. MMA skills have no relevance for real life. It might work in some specific scenarios if you're attacked but if you're an adult and getting intro street fights there's something wrong with you anyway.

    Boxing is a combat sport.

    Combat sports > martial arts.

MMA should actually be named mixed combat sports because that's what it is.

BJJ and to a small extent karate are the only martial arts that are relevant for MMA but even with these two the most relevant forms for MMA are no-gi sport BJJ and competitive sport karate that doesn't involve katas and all the other thing. And these forms of BJJ and karate are criticized by martial arts purists all the time because they see it as going away from martial art spirit.

That's not a street fight because it's just a one way attack when a fight hasn't even necessarily been initiated. Stop having a weird, childish and criminal view of what a street fight actually is.

Besides, if an MMA fighter gets in close range with one who is trained as a boxer, the boxer is done. This is an example of the sort of thing that's instinctive for an MMA fighter:

It is a street fight, street fights are initiated by sudden attacks. They're by definition uncontrolled and violent. It has zero to do with MMA and boxing I don't know why it's so difficult to understand for the moronic UFC fanbase. Those guys are professional athletes, they're not getting into street fights (other than morons like Falcao) and it's completely irrelevant to them.

Why does it matter how it's called anyway, what happened to Falcao could happen to any UFC fighter and could be done by anyone.

If MMA fighter gets in close range with a boxer he gets a lesson in close range fighting. A boxer doesn't fight outside of boxing ring and outside of boxing rules, if he fights under MMA rules then he's an MMA fighter.

You're the one who is childish because you're obsessing about street fights and ******ed fantasy scenarios.

You're the only one who defines street fight like that for starters. Have fun with that.
He gets a lesson in close range fighting? You clearly have no knowledge of other martial arts. He gets taken down, gets elbows, gets knees at least. The boxer will be stifled and they rely on clinches.
You're the one with the longer posts responding with the most outlandish views. If it makes you feel better to say you can beat Mike Tyson, George Foreman and Fedor all in one go in a street fight, then fair enough if it makes you feel better.

If he does that he gets disqualified. Why would a boxer need to care about defending illegal maneuvers?

Boxers are presitigious marquee athletes, UFC fighters are mostly club fighter level.

We're talking in the context of street fights where they're both fighting, the boxer is untrained at close range (which is proven in the fact that they clinch and 'fight in the clinch' - the clinch means nothing to the UFC fighter). Anyway, learn martial arts beyond boxing and then we can talk.

Why would a boxer fight in a street fight?

No it wont, you have to be incredibly naive if you think this fight will happen.

This is a terrible fight, I really hope it doesn't happen.

If it does happen, however, it would be great if half way through a frustrated McGregor lost his cool and took Floyd to the ground and put him in an arm lock or something. Now that would be worth seeing!

I've seen a lot of erotic, zany, madcap adventures, but this fight practically rivals 1981's Pacific Banana, in terms of the potential, on paper.
