That's a silly way of looking at it.

IMO 51-0-1 is better record than 49-0. Marciano was undefeated in 49 fights, Lopez was undefeated in 52 fights.
Marciano retired with 49 wins, Lopez retired with 51 wins.

He is a professional boxer because he has a boxing license. He's a highly decorated MMA fighter, so it's not like he's never fought under the bright lights before. McGregor's never been stopped in MMA from strikes, only from submissions on the ground. So essentially he's undefeated standing up as a kickboxer. He may find this transition a good one because he no longer has to worry about being taken down which was his biggest liability in MMA. Being hit by boxing gloves is going to feel like pillows to him compared to the small MMA gloves. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I'd be absolutely shocked if Floyd manages to stop him or even knock him down.

Conor's punches are so telegraphed and his defence is full of holes, no way a defensive master like Floyd is going to get hit by anything big IMHO.

Honestly, I hope it's a good fight if it happens.

I don't think Mayweather gets the KO. He's old. But he can make Conor look like a fool by making him miss over and over again.

On the other hand, Mayweather likely can get a KO if he wants.

I like Conor, I'm just trying to be honest.

If it's an MMA fight, then Floyd gets crushed. But it's a boxing match.

You know you can do it with Rocky's resume as well? You can easily discount like the first 30 to 35 fights on his record.

Stop making confused and thus disordered generalizations. Have some respect for yourself as well as others.

How do you know? He's never had a boxing fight before, so we have no idea what type of boxing style he will have. You can't tell what his boxing style will be from his MMA fights because in the back of his mind he's always thinking about the takedown. His unknown boxing style works to his favor, and who knows we even could see more head movement from him. I think this guy is going to transform his skill set from a top level MMA fighter into a seek-and-destroy ferocious pro boxer. He's had plenty of time to prepare for this fight, and he's been quoted as saying :
"I’m ready to box. I’ve been ready for a long time. The game’s going to be in shock when I step in the ring. Trust me on that."

I'm stating a fact, that's exactly what happened when that thread was brought up. You had multiple people talking about how good it would be if that fight materialised. No generalisations here.

You need to get your facts straight.

Also, if anyone wants to know "why would McGregor take this fight just to get embarrassed?", that's an easy question to answer.

Minimum $30M or so. For that kind of money, who wouldn't sign?

All McGregor has to say afterward as he heads to deposit his check is "yeah, he's a great boxer but I'd kick his ass in a real fight."

I don't blame Mayweather or McGregor for wanting this fight. All I'm going to say is, if you're a customer, be careful. Because I think you're going to get your pocket picked as was the case in Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

He surely deserves the fight more than Pacquiao, right?

Pacquiao had his chance and blew it immensely, winning only 2 rounds.

Why would he possibly deserve a shot?!

I hear you but still think JCC's level of opposition was worse and I say that as someone who thinks Marciano is hugely overrated and who likes JCC.

You could look at it that way but my opinion is that I hope the fight doesn't happen.

Is it because of your hatred towards Mayweather?

No one is forcing you to buy it or watch it.

The thing is that we do have a fairlym lengthy video of him sparring in boxing, and he's awful.

His big talk is meaningless, I could claim to be better than Floyd too but it would mean nothing.
