what would happen to boxing if Mayweather where to lose to McGregor how serious would the blow be to have one of the best beaten by some mma guy?
and no I dont think I will happen just posing a question

 

Boxing would never recover. Floyd is the only succesfull boxer left who turned pro during the times of Tyson, Holyfield and Lennox. It won't happen though. Every amateur boxer with a bit of talent beats McGregor in a boxing match. This match will be boxing vs. MMA.

But if McGregor somehow lands a lucky punch because Floyd doesn't take him as serious due to his non boxing background, it would be a terrible night for boxing.

McGregor has zero chance but in some parallel universe where this would happen McGregor would then basically become a boxer and have fights with the likes of Pacman, Canelo, Khan etc. which would mean that boxing would have huge PPVs again.

McGregor is no longer an MMA fighter IMO, he won't go back in the UFC, there's nothing there for him really.

 

Most MMA fans don't like Conor and want Mayweather to win. Most people who like Conor are Conor fans exclusively who don't care about MMA and boxing as sports.

It won't happen, but if it did it would be great for boxing.
After such a farce, other diva boxers would think twice to pull a stunt like that and end up looking like a fool.

 

I agree especially with boxing gloves but I'm presenting a hypothetic question asking what the state of boxing after a Mayweather loss

 

I take it every boxing fan will be cheering on Mayweather when they fight then?
