you're only saying that because with Floyd's defensive style, there's a very good chance that happens.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if it goes the distance even, and we don't even know how many rounds it will be for.

might be everything between 4 and 10.

if it goes the distance then floyds carrying him. All Floyd has to do is go out turn on his assault and Connor doesn't see round 2. Its as simple as that. Floyd if he wanted could look absolutely devastating here, its his choice. The biggest sports payday of all time and its a complete joke !

I'm expecting it to be a 12 rounder if it happens.

No, I'm saying that because one man is considered an ATG and the other hasn't participated in a single amateur or professional boxing match.

"These MMA guys". You're painting in broad brushes. It's important to point out that every fighter is different. There's an unknown element to how Conor can do in boxing, and specifically vs Floyd Mayweather. There are aspects to this fight that make it intriguing, and there's obviously a war of the words going on here between Conor and Floyd. There's something about Conor's personality that makes me personally want to see it. He seems motivated to really give it a go vs Floyd. Chances are Floyd will do his thing and outbox Conor, but Conor is certainly a live opponent so you just never know. As a boxing fan and not an MMA fan, part of me knows how bad it would look for boxing if Conor does well vs Floyd. But this will assuredly be a fight that will capture the interest of both Boxing and MMA fans in a way we've never seen before. I can't lie, I do want to see the fight and something tells me Conor will do better than most boxing fans think he will. However lets be real, none of us have any flipping clue what’s going to happen, this isn’t just some guy off the street. We know Conor is a skilled striker and he’s spent a considerable amount of time tailoring himself to boxing. He’s not fighting a prime Floyd Mayweather, which I think we would all agree would handle him easily. We’re talking about a Floyd Mayweather who’s two years retired and possibly has slowed down enough for this to be competitive.

I have a clue as to the result and I'm prepared to put Canelo's pimply ass up as my avatar for a month if Conor beats Floyd, if you're willing to put Golovkin with a crown on his head up as yours should Floyd win.

There's not a doubt in my mind.

Interesting point of view actually. It doesnt matter if Floyd is defensive fighter, he should KO Conor easily. He should do much much better than what he did against Hatton regardless of his age. Talent range is enormous. And tbh 12 decision would be bad look for Floyd. Hell people like Joe Rogan parade around saying there is no ****ing way Floyd KOs Conor. He needs to destroy him.

Please list the quite a few top level MMA strikers you’ve seen try their luck at boxing. A thing to keep in mind is that Conor is not known for his MMA ground game or his takedown defense or jiu jitsu or any of these aspects of MMA that creates a well rounded MMA fighter. He’s won only 1 of his MMA fights by submission, two by decision and the rest have been by Knockout. The guy is a brawler. All of his knockouts except 1 (elbows) have been by punches. He’s a puncher. Punching is what he’s good at. We’re not talking about Royce Gracie who just grabs you and holds on or something lol. An MMA puncher brawler who’s style is almost predominantly punching has the easiest time adjusting to boxing.

Obviously the main difference when it comes to fundamentals relating to stance has to do with in boxing not having to worry about defending takedowns. That’s the biggest adjustment for McGregor. He no longer has to have that hunched over MMA stance, always ready to sprawl, he can stand more upright as a boxer. Once he’s made that adjustment that he’s not going to be pushed to the ground and submitted, it’s not going to be all that different from his usual style. The next thing is blocking and learning how to avoid punches, without having to worry about kicks coming at you or takedown attempts.

You’ve got a guy here in McGregor that is one of the best candidates for an MMA fighter to do well in boxing. He’s got hand speed, he knows how to punch, and he’s now able to focus on that one single facet of his MMA game that is by far his best aspect of MMA.

We know it’s all very technical with Floyd, it’s truly a chess match in there with Floyd, and I’m guessing that Conor’s problem is that he’s going to be too aggressive, too impatient and he won’t cover-up enough. Conor would do well to use his jab and try to set up combos with his jab. If he’s over eager Floyd is going to pick him apart, but if goes in with an actual boxing strategy who knows.

lol where have I stated that Conor is going to beat Floyd? Why in the world would I bet against Floyd Mayweather? (and moreover why would I make a bet related to Canelo - Triple G based on the outcome of Floyd vs Conor lmao) I obviously favor Floyd to win, I'm just not so bold as to call the fight a joke or extremely one-sided as the majority of boxing fans are. I mean folks tend to overrate Floyd Mayweather on a massive level. People around here literally think Floyd won every single round vs Canelo when in fact it was one of his closest fights. I'm just trying to keep it real around here.

Shadow111 seems to think that Conor has an actual, non-zero chance of winning this one. In fact, he says anything could happen. Worse, he's putting together long winded (and clever, curse him) explanations as to why this is so.

I disagree with him but couldn't be arsed to get into it; it seems obvious to me this is a farce and that Conor is going to get tooled outside of a miracle.

    Am I wrong?

    What does BF24 think?

Only one way this fight is going for me. Mayweather wins by decision. Wins every single round. Casuals/MMA fans accuse him of running from McGregor.

Conor is 0-0-0 as a boxer, Floyd is 49-0, a five-weight champion, and regardless of what anyone thinks of him, a borderline ATG and the 2nd best fighter of his generation. This is a no-brainer.
