Who cares? The WBA is garbage like the rest of those alphabet soup titles. If Mayweather wins this fight, he should be the #1 welterweight in the world.

    Dumb move

He could win it and have some added leverage in negotiations with Pac.

That belt adds no leverage. Campbell had 3 belts and Pac gladly skipped over his ass. That belt won't affect negotiations. The ppv numbers are the only thing that would change it from being a 50/50 fight.

Isn't the Ring belt vacant. Ring mag should put it on the line for this fight, make itself the only belt worth fighting for. Golden boy, if you're reading this, make this happen. :bbb

to be fair, 3% is ridiculous. if the fight makes 30 mill, hes giving up nearly 1million dollars.

Campbell was already verbally contracted to fight Guzman right before the JMM/Pac rematch.

If they meet at the table, Pac will come in as "The" champion.

That means ****. He came into negotiations as the champ the last time and they agreed to a 50/50 split. PPV numbers is the only thing that will change that. Furthermore, Pac will be vacating that belt soon anyway, and neither will have a title.

I wouldn't pay to have a belt...it's all about the fight.

Champion of what? He has a bull**** trinket that he picked up from Cotto. The only reason Cotto had the belt was because Williams was forced out of the division and Arum pulled strings to him get a title shot when he was coming off of a loss despite the fact that he was previously unranked by the WBO because he held the WBA title. Pac's WBOgus belt means nothing. He has no legit claim to being the man at 147.

belts mean something in boxing when you're up and coming. Its absolutely garbage in the grand scheme of things.

Agreed, his name is already up and out there. He can chose who to fight for big boy money. He doesn't need a belt to attract fights to him.
