..in before "early" stoppage. Was a decent stoppage, not early.. it's entirely Cotto's fight it was stopped... he needed to get the **** out of there.

 

Pointless fights on the undercard. Not surprised but still disappointed

 

The ref could have allowed Cotto out of the round though.

He didn't seem seriously hurt at any point of that pounding.

Either way, Saul Alvarez is a name we have to remember in the future.

 

Cotto ate a lot of clean, hard shots there, I would have stopped the fight a bit earlier but good finish.

True, thats why i thought it was going to be one sided, due to the size advantage of fighting a lightweight at welterweight,

Cotto impressed me tonight.

Looked like he was rolling with those rights on the ropes

I'm not sure why anyone would call this fight boring. It was back and forth power shots for most of the fight. I thought it was an excellent fight. As for an early stoppage..hard to say, cotto wasn't fighting back and I guess sometime a ref has to protect a fighter from himself. Cotto may have been able to take those all day, but then again, brain damage might be the result.
