Mayweather-Mosley Was Off The Chain, But What Next For Mayweather & Mosley?

    The superfight is imminent and I am buzzing; as I'm sure many of you are as well:happy. Whilst waiting for the fight I find myself pondering this, though:

    What happens afterwards for both fighters? The Phenom is the obvious prize for the winner, but (for the sake of debate) let's imagine that Pacquiao either wins the election he's campaigning in and is out for a while or, should Mayweather win, contractural terms for a fight aren't reached. We all know that Mosley has to give a rematch to PBF if he wins but, that aside, who should be on Mosley's or Floyd's hitlist? Which fights out there add to legacy, and which mean nothing? 147 and 154 have plenty of exciting possibilities, and even fighters campaigning at 140 could make for interesting fights, but what are the most realistic and worthy options? Who should the loser fight next as well? What are his options?:think

    Winner or even loser vs Devon Alexander or Andre Berto are fights I would love to see. Both can box, both undefeated.

    Mosley could look at rematching Cotto and getting a belt off him, provided he beats Foreman.

    Otherwise... he could fight someone like Berto, but there aren't that many welters after Floyd, Pac and Shane.

    Floyd... well...without Pac, who the hell else will people pay to see him fight?

    I think that fight is Mosley's best option if he does lose as well. Cotto-Mosley II makes complete sense even if it is coming off the back of a Mosley loss. I think Mosley would definately take most fights at 154 and 147, though. I can't see PBF wanting anyone at 154 (shame as I think a lot of people would demand a Martinez fight if he were to start looking at oppo at 154), so I think his only options win or lose are Cotto or Berto if the Pacquiao fight doesn't happen. Can't see either of them facing Williams and I could never see PBF facing Margarito (I can imagine the handwrap comments already:lol:).

    As KingCobra says, Alexander is a good fight, but I don't see it making enough financial sense to happen ('upstart 140lbr moving up' is probably the most cynical way of looking at it).

    The annoying thing is that Floyd would have whipped Margarito.

    He bangs on about how great he is, but in terms of welterweight opposition, he is a bit thin on the ground - though the Hatton win is underrated, because IMO Hatton was already struggling at 140.

    Below that I've got few complaints..... but he could have beaten Cotto & Margarito - his record would look better for it rather than Baldomir & a 21 month break.

    floyd can let pac come to him or try and get cotto at 154 but again thats a bob arum fighter so i cant see the fight happening

    maybe bradley but he would almost certanly make him come up to welter , i cant see floyd making 140 again

    For me, in an ideal world...

    Winner faces Pacquiao
    Loser faces Berto

    But boxing is far from an ideal world, so who knows? Floyd is all about the money, and he knows a showdown with manny would be the biggest grossing fight in the sport's history so I think most people are pretty sure that fight will happen at some point.

    And as threethirteen said, if Floyd doesn't fight Pacquiao next-then after Mosley there is nobody else out there to fight that would make enough interest and money. Berto a possibility with the way HBO are behind him, but I'd imagine if it's not Pac next for Floyd, nobody will care.

    Martinez would make Floyd look awful. I look at Mayweather's journey to LMW simply as a way to get Oscar in the ring. He wouldn't have risked it for anyone else.

    Those guys punch too hard, move as fast as most welters and are generally taller. Floyd moves from have significant advantages to almost none. He's not a big guy at welter as it is.

    For his sake, 154 is a bust. Mosley's **** at the weight too, btw. It turns him into a plodding slugger.

    there is nowhere for either to go except for manny pac

    going from such a huge fight to anything less is harmful for the sport and harmful for mayweathers income i reckon mayweather is trying to cash in more than ever and as dana white says when you got the momentum going, keep it going

    so he will try secure the pacman fight after this i reckon, berto alexander williams etc are minor fights compared to tonight and pacman

    if mosley wins he goes straight for pacman , no drug testing so both are happy
