Eh not agreeing with this . Bradley was more deserving .. Haymon won manager of the year and Roach won trainer of the year that could have gone to Garcia ..
Would put Stevenson and Bradley above him but Floyd had a good year. Fought twice and dominated Canelo in the biggest fight of the year.
Classic case of media kissing arse for access. Bradley beat a tough contender who is now a titleholder and an ATG. FMJ beat some contender, and a hyped up 23yr old media job. The only justifiable angle for FMJ getting named FTY is the one James Gouge espoused, which is how his out of the ring business deal with SHO/CBS shook up the boxing status quo outside the ring, as it led to or at least was the straw that bbroke the camels back with HBO/GBP and all that. So as a result we got some really great cards in 2013. If you take that angle.. OK, I can agree. But if your talking about ring achievement... both Bradley and Stevenson are much more compelling. I mean Stevenson came out of nowhere to become lineal champ and KOed 4 people ffs. Canelo rates nowhere close to that achievement.
Garcia had victories against top contender and 5 time world champion in Judah and against a guy he was supost to lose in Mathysse a guy who was kicking evebodys ass. where Garcia was the underdog. My choice for a very large margin whitout a doubt is Danny Garcia. Mayweahter decisions a guy who was fighting in the lightweight division a little more than a year ago and against a very green champion in a catchweight in fight c'on! in those two fights Mayweather was the favorite and was supost to win easily
there could be an argument made for afew different fighters. they say that this was the best year of boxing in the last 25 years. so it is only fitting that the best fighter of this generation should win the award
He wasn't even named fighter of the decade ..Bradley put in more work this year .This is nothing more than a popularity choice ..
That isn't how it works... The fighter of the year is based on achievement, not on skill. Remember that isn't cumulative achievement either, it is only what he did during the year in question. This is the award of "what have you done for me lately". Mayweather hasn't done anything to deserve this award. There are, realistically, at least two fighters per division that deserve fighter of the year more than Mayweather. Having too big wins puts you WAY over Mayweather; two solid wins should be more than enough as well. Hell, if you have one solid win, and one okay victory, you are even with him.
He was on vacation. Popularity choice is right. Floyd is the most popular boxer right now contrary to what you *******s say. These awards don't mean anything.
mayweather retires when the going gets tough and comes back when its safe for him to come back coward !
