In a year when he participated in the biggest fight in boxing history(in terms of revenue generated, not adjusting for inflation), the Fight of the Millenium, and became the face of boxing, respected columnist Dan Rafael named Money May the 2007 fighter of the year. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=3169677
Maybe one day you'll have as much clout as respected columnist Dan Rafael, and you can name your own fighter ot the year. Until then, you'll just have to be satisfied with other peoples' opinions.
evreyone is entitled to their own opinions though even though they maybe crazy not to see that PBF deserves FOTY
both had great years but PBF brought back boxing in a big way this year. Boxing NEEDED him this year more than ever and he came through - thats why he's fighter of the year. period!
No simply because Money May brought boxing back to the mainstream twice this year, made boxing a LOT of money, is the second highest paid athlete in ALL OF SPORTS right behind Tiger. He fought 2 high profile fights that the WORLD watched and is P4P the best fighter in the world. Cotto is number 2 and Pavlik (who sucks so much ass) but even I have to admit he's number 3. In a recent interview done on Wednesday at a site I can't name, Bob Arum (who is bias toward Money) said he has no argument with Money May being fighter of the year...and he promote Cotto and Pavlik.
He probably deserves it. He had a significant part of making some very compelling fights. He did a lot for the sport this year.
Let's see who The Ring names as fighter of the year. A media outlet that actually covers boxing, ESPN only covers mainstream boxing.
