GBP messed up too, instead of having HBO and Showtime money, now they're stuck with only Showtime money and Mayweather already has largest chunk of that.
Showtime isn't digging into their pockets to pay Floyd. They make a ppv card, Floyd generates money and he gets paid from that
That's a complete fabrication. Showtime knows he would never bring in those kind of numbers. Love this fake gossip.
Its stupid to think that the break even point is 1.5 million. Why would showtime sign that contract if it is very rarw for a fight to get over 1 million even in Mayweather and Pacquiaos place. The breakeven is probably 700-900 k
I don't know the mechanics of the boxing business, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have some kind of veto as to who Floyd could fight or had some ability to change the guarantee, otherwise what would stop him from simply fighting mismatched opponents over and over again?
It really doesn't require someone to have a business degree to think this is how you'd expect this to work. But then again sports is a weird business. Some athletes get guarantees far past their prime, some have no trade clauses, and some like Rodriguez get paid ridiculous sums of money only to get busted for drug abuse. So who really knows the business side of this arrangement, but it would be interesting to find out.
Well if it sells 1 million that is 70 million the gate is 17 million and then the rest probably pushes it up to about 100 million. Out of that Golden Boy Promotions and Al Haymon will get a big cut I can only guess it amounts to 10s of millions, Mayweather gets 35, Maidana 1.5 which is meant to rise with Argentinian money, Khan gets 1.25, Broner 1.25 the rest of the card will be over 1 million then the Showtime team probably get around 1 million including camera crew. There is a cost for airing the show live which is a few million, the cost of advertising is a few million. There are all sorts of costs that people here are not factoring in I am only guessing. I would say that this guy is right when 1.5 million buys he knows better than us.
Damn, well hopefully the Mexicans interrupt their festivities to cheer on their national hero Carlos Molina II. What a **** card.
Its 900k at worse, after all its for Showtime, no way its considered a loss even at 900K At 1 Million+ they are making $ I am not sure, but giving 32 M to Mayweather helps in negotiating a special deal (to prevent loss)...which is very unlikely to happen
