Recently, mayweather relies on staying on the ropes more frequently, and he only gets away with it because once he rolls few shots he bends down to his waist, almost like trying to headbutt his oppnents *****, and then moves out. Cotto was too gun shy to really punish him on the ropes, ortiz tried to headbutt, maidana just being maidana, smothering his shots.. pac knows exactly what to do when his opponent is on the ropes, infact that when we see the best of him, watch how he was breaking down barrera towards the end of their first fight, or how he was beating up cotto and marg when they were backing off agaisnt the ropes.. floyds need to just move move and move, jabs to body, break up pacs rhythym, lead hooks, move, lead rights etc
Mayweather cant move like he used to, the key for Mayweather will be whether he is able to move his feet quick enough to kepp distance, but even that wont be enough as Pacquiao has faster feet and will be able to close the distance quick and throw his combinations, Floyd is going to be in big trouble on May 2nd
Floyd said he's been on the ropes more because he wants to entertain fans. I don't believe him. I refuse to accept he willingly allows himself to get hit. I think he says it to create the perception that he's always in control in the fight and no one has come close to beating him. In truth though, I think he's just aging. Moving your legs at 38 that much is tough. Reason why he's tending to fall back on ropes more. Leg fatigue. Which is weird because he didn't seem like that against Canelo. Age seemed to have hit him hard the past year and half.
