A friend and I were talking about Mayweather v. Guerrero and he brought up the fact that Guerrero can be "rough" when he wants to. The discussion went to Ortiz and how Floyd dealt with an intentional foul against him. The deeper the discussion got, the more I started putting things together.

Victor tried to use his head numerous times in the 4 rounds they fought. In round 4, He rushed Mayweather and attacked with a leaping headbutt. The unified rules of boxing say that you go to the scorecards AFTER 4 ROUNDS. If a headbutt stopped Mayweather from continuing, the fight would have been a no-contest. More importantly, Ortiz would be set up for a likely rematch. Did Ortiz go into the match with a plan to intentionally foul to create another payday?

Ortiz has had a bunch of different stories about it the headbutt. It was unintentional at first, then he was trying to kill him, then he was retaliating against Xteen (I don't remember the number) phantom elbows on hooks (I saw none, but I've seen Floyd throw that elbow against Castillo). His last excuse is that his corner told him to do it during the fight. He's kinda dumb because the fight was taped including the full discussion in both corners. I guarantee you if HBO heard his corner tell him to headbutt it would have been broadcast. But did he plan before fight time to try get a NC to get the rematch?

Whether he did or didn't, given that most fighters can make a few million fighting Mayweather and tens of thousands (or if they're lucky hundreds of thousands) fighting others, an intentional foul to get a rematch is something Floyd should really be concerned about.

Based on how much Floyd's camp has talked about Guerrero being a dirty fighter, I'm positive the ref will be watching for any foul play by Guerrero.

I think he will try from the start of the fight to get dirty hoping to cut pbf.

If only the ref had the power to disqualifty. Oh wait, your hypothesis is stupid. Carry on.

agreed next to Abner Mares Guerrero is the dirtiest fighter I've ever seen Floyd needs to watch himself

I guarantee he'll try and thumb Floyd in the eye or headbutt him or step on his shoes or low blow him he might even try to throw Floyd out the ring

You must be new to watching boxing.

Casamayor, Agapito Sanchez (RIP), Bernard Hopkins, Margarito, Holyfield, Golota, etc, etc, etc, all immediately come to mind and rank well above Robert Guerrero.

As a matter of fact, RG and Floyd are pretty close to tied for questionable tactics.

I've only ever seen Robert Guerrero fight like that once,go watch a few Marco Antonio Barrera fights that guy was full of dirty tricks.I don't think Abner Mares is intentially dirty either I think he just lets his enthusiasm get the better of him the same could be said for Robert Guerrero, hel pay dearly if he decides to use those tactics against Floyd though

    Just as?

Floyd is one of the dirtiest fighters that ever laced 'em up.

Brilliant, but sometimes incredibly dirty. He's all arms, elbows, holding, etc.

To his credit, I don't know of any fight where Floyd started the roughhouse stuff first, AFAIK, it's always been in response to the same from his opponent, but Guerrero better not try anything. With all the money Showtime has invested, you KNOW the ref will be helping Floyd as much as he can.

Guerrero deserves a thumb jab in the eye if he wants to play dirty.

A fighter at the top who is capable of fighting dirty should make statements every now and then to demonstrate how mean he is

Guerrero has to apply that style to get to Mayweather. If he's going to stand in the middle of the ring and box he's getting pummeled.

exactly. The guy has one of most blatant uses of an elbow I've ever seen.

Ortiz vs Floyd looks like it was a setup fight.

I still find it funny how the referee just stands there and watches this:

I wonder if Guerrero will try this move on Mayweather.
