Yet he was warning Berto for measuring with the left hand and stopping him from working everytime he had space which wasn't often because Guerreros horrible mauling. Guerrero was able to hit and hold, use his head and push his shoulders into Berto face all through the fight then to top it off he keeps throwing punches for about ten seconds after he final bell whilst Bertos hands are down by his waist. The ref was an absolute disgrace I thought, there's no way he's getting away with that **** against Floyd who ever is refereeing the fight will have a close eye on Guerrero.
Floyd also wont be a helpless fighter. If Ghost tries to be dirty, Floyd wont be a helpless prey like Berto was.
Apparently the referee for the fight will be Robert Byrd. ( http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/sport/story/201468.html ) Does he allow much infighting and rough tactics?
Byrd tends to be a "middle of the road" type. He's not a liberal as a Smoger, but not as weak hearted as a Cortez. He just won't tolerate blatant ****, that's all.
It's not stupid if you can make the foul look accidental. Ortiz may have been stupid for not being a better actor.
Yeah the final seconds of round 12 between Guerrero-Berto was disgusting to watch. He still landed a few punches on Berto after the bell had rung. He won't be able to get away with that **** against Floyd tonight.
I'm sure the fight will get messy with the odd infringement here and there. Both have bent the rules previously, and maybe as Guererro becomes frustrated he could try and gain an advantage by attempting to rough Mayweather up. It's all probably going to be a sub plot though. Mayweather is going to win ths clearly.
Flawed logic. For a regular fight an NC is enough warrant a rematch but for a bigtime PPV fight the fight will have to be compelling enough that people will want to pay 70 bucks twice to see the final out come. The only time you can really see that happening is if a fight is really good and really close.
Also speaking of fouls. Has anyone even talked about the fact that Floyd won't have his usual cut man in his corner?? Against a Mexican fouls artists? Thats not a good plan if you ask me.
Floyd walks the line of what is allowed/prohibited by the rules. He is certainly not the cleanest fighter I've ever seen. Intentional fouls that look unintentional or are masked from referees are part of nearly every sport. They are all over the NFL/NBA/NHL. Coaches teach athletes how to do them. I have seen Floyd partake. That said, my point isn't about who fights dirty, it's about the fact that fighting dirty against Floyd is one strategy that a fighter may use to land a second payday. And it's a viable strategy given the level of the payday. All you have to do is land the right elbow or headbutt and you get $3-4 Million.
I disagree. Guerrero would still be Mayweather's mandatory if a NC occurred in this fight. In the instance of Ortiz -- Ortiz would still be WBC Champ under a NC. Additionally there would be demand to see Mayweather rematch the guy who tarnished his pristine record.
