Discuss. He's stated this in interviews many times. I'm a major Money fan but I don't believe this at all :yep

With a ring IQ as high as his he can pick up on things the first time around when watching the fight live.

I'm sure someone in the Mayweather camp has studied.

    I do.

I believe he follows the sport closely and is up to date as to what certain fighters bring to the table.

But I don't see him being the kind of guy who studies fight tapes.

    I'm sure his team does.

But Floyd is the type of guy to train the way he always has, and adapt in ring to what he sees.

exactly, he may act like he doesn't care about boxing outside of himself, but he even watches fights no one else watched some JCC Jr fight

I don't know if he looks at tapes and deliberately studies them, but he's obviously seen a lot of the fights of people he fights against. I think he's up to date with all the fights and just sees fighters for what they are right then and there.

Why does he talk about having a game plan then? I call bull****.

How can you be fighting for millions of dollars and not prepare properly for it?

Floyd studies his opponents more than anyone in the fight game. Don't listen when he says that he doesn't.

Making the strategy is generally your trainer's responsibility. Roger May has given applicable tactical advance on various occasions. You have to watch enough of Floyd's career and really listen in order to hear it.

I do... No one can deny..."that boy good". :D With that said, Floyd's the kind of person who is better if he doesn't OVER THINK when it comes to his fights. Floyd trusts his instincts and his ability to respond to different situations... Not everyone can do that. Floyd's also well schooled but when Floyd gets in the ring it's pretty much a blank canvas...the picture usually ends up looking the same because he dictates how the fight plays out and his oppenents usually end up fighting Floyd's fight and not theirs.. Floyd is a fighter that reacts based on instincts and reflexes. Have a road map or blue print for Floyd would just cause mass confusion vs helping him in the ring.

well according to Floyd he said "you can study the tape all you want but when you get inside the ring it is completely different" I used to not believe him but after many many 24/7s you will never catch him watching tapes while his opponents watch his constantly. He is too occupy with everything else that i don't even see how he still dominates his opponents. I guess he adjust in the ring.

Roger watches a ton of tape Floyd Sr also watches tape. I find it hard to believe Floyd doesn't watch tape on fighters. Especially since it sems as though Floyd doesn't even consult with his uncle when he is picking his opponents. Also Roger said Floyd comes to the gym and tells him what they are going to work on that day.

This. People from past training camps have mentioned several times that Floyd sits and goes over fights like no one else. He's a boxing nerd after all. So it's common sense he studies tapes.
