He HAS to act this way to draw attention. His boxing isn't exciting and he isn't funny or charming. He is just a great technical boxer who acts as obnoxious and ******ed as possible to keep the attention on him. If he didn't up the ante each 24/7 his fights wouldn't sell.
I feel people throw the 'r' word out like quarters in an arcade- making the real thing worthless. Second, it is NOT an American thing. It is human nature thing. Even if you put it in context of power. Genocide for example is not limited to one particular race.
Fair point..butI live in America so I'm really only concerned with the subject as it relates to America. And some people may be to quick to start complaining, playing the race card, but at the same time, like I said, there are those who refuse to acknowledge that it is still very prevalent today even though it may not be as salient as it was in previous generations.
Since others are bringing up the "American branded" dysfunction of racism, I was banned for saying this but I'll say it again: Racism, of course a negative, also includes positive stereotypes (eg. "Asians are good at math", "Jews are good at finance/business", "Blacks/people of African descent are good athletes"). If Pacquiao was a black man, would all the Mayweather supporters/Pacquiao haters who are "convinced" he is taking banned substances still have that adamant opinion? Aside from height (~2" difference), they are both now natural WWs.
Are you people seriously realizing this now that PBF is acting rude and utterly classless. Where have you been?
If you want a role model for your kids you picked the wrong sport buddy. How does punching someone in the face for a living equate to being a good role model?
Your saying they cant be role models because boxing is their profession? What about the boxers who before every fight never talk trash after every fight hug their opponent and show them respect? Your saying a guy who conducts himself they way Shane Mosley does or the way Alexis Arguello used to cannot be considered a role model because they are a professional boxer?
Whole lot of complaining in this thread. And yet, every one of y'all will be tuned in next week to see what that 'punk, classless, obnoxious, ******ed, loud mouthed, azzhole, non role model' does. :nono Floyd won.
You're right, a lot of that is an act; part of his "Money" persona. He's said it himself. In the same episode you see him being a genuinely loving father & man of his family. However, consistency is important if you're concerned about your fanbase. Sometimes Floyd says he doesn't need ANY validation from ANYONE, fans included. Other times, he's telling the media how much he loves his fans AND other fighters' fans from all over the world. I'm a fan of Floyd the boxer. Floyd the "entertainer"/"fight hyper"? Mostly not. I posted this a few months ago, & I stand by it: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5961900&postcount=43
