Randy is actually in shape. Toney has taken so much punishment that he now needs a translator to understand him.
I agree. But many people were talking about age at the time assuming that Randy was much younger. How old was Foreman at his latest when he held a belt? Toney shouldn't have stepped up if he wasn't prepared mentally, physically or strategically. People kept saying that Dana White wanted an out-of-shape, washed up fighter like Toney to be beaten in order to send a message to the boxing community. This isn't even close to being true. It was Toney who followed White everywhere literally begging for that fight. He actually threatened to stalk Dana down at his own home until he got the fight. Dana after a long period of time finally gave in. Especially when Toney tried to claim that MMA fighters were afraid of him. Toney got exactly what he wanted. Boxing fans can't complain about the perceived low quality of boxers who have fought in MMA. It's not as if Mayweather or Pac are in a big hurry to try it. I haven't seen them signing any contracts. Mayweather initially talked a lot of trash but then later apologized and admitted that he had no business in MMA.
I think most of us on this foreman knew Toney was going to lose, he never had the footwork even in his prime
Frankie Edgar is an excellent wrestler, had he not been, he'd have been taken down. It's his wrestling that allows him to stand and box.
Uhh derr. he uh dur decided to urr box instead of duurr durr wrestle, durr which is his durrr specialty
It tells you he didn't want to be on the ground with one of the best Jiu Jitsu guys in the world, so beat him using defensive and defensive boxing, yeah. Bottom line is, if he isn't as good a wrestler as he is, he isn't able to use his boxing.
Why? Because he could outbox BJ, in the context of mma. That proves what exactly? He's a better boxer in mma than BJ Penn? Good god you're a genius. Would he have been able to outbox Penn if he was on his back?
he reacted like that because of the :huh response from before - and i can't blame him... if anyone can outbox BJ Penn without having to deal with being taken down, then good luck to them! MMA takes no prisoners because it challenges fighters to be multi-dimensional as a fighter, and even then, you're going to fight guys who are are stronger than you in one discipline and it's your job to beat them. that's what makes it such a great code. and the top dogs are as skilled as any sportsmen in the world - including penn
None of which makes any difference, you have claimed that anyone with decent boxing training should be able to counter a takedown atempt with a punch. In reality many MMA fighters have a decent level of boxing ability yet to the best of my knowledge nobody has ever KOed someone shooting in for a takedown with a punch. Its simpley not a pratical move, someone flying forwards trying to grab hold of your legs is an incredabley hard target to land a punch on. The natural striking counter to a takedown atempt is as I said a knee since its inline with the angle of the shoot. Put simpley your just pulling nonsense arguements out of your ass and should really stop posting here if you don't want to continue looking foolish.
You're a goddam idiot. You keep posting, but everything you say is wrong. I train at Throwdown in LV with Forrest Griffin. I can allow for someone being igorant on the subject, what I don't understand is why you keep posting with your current abysmal knowledge, trying to make it true, instead of educating yourself. Just toddle on down to your nearest BJJ school and you'll find out everything you need to know in a hurry.
