Mayweather-Ortiz: simply a good fight

  1. I'm stoked about this!

If Mayweather shows any kind of significant "aging" in this fight... Ortiz...

Should be a good fight. I look forward to it and will root for Floyd but the only reason this may be competitive is because of Floyd's ringrust. I like Manny too but fighting a YOUNG champion coming off their best performance yet is better than facing a faded Marquez who's best years are behind him. My respect for Floyd has risen but his inactivity may be his downfall which I hope it won't be as he is not young or has mental lapses like Dawson. Floyd-Manny ain't happening so lets make the most of matchups like this that have good potential and WILL happen.

Sidenote, I don't think Ortiz would finish Floyd as Berto was right there in front of Ortiz to be shredded but Ortiz couldn't find the combination to put him away. Best bet is Ortiz comes close and Floyd survives a tough battle winning with his superior ring intellect. Not sure how Floyd will look after almost two years out of the ring at an advancing age of 34 so that betters Ortiz' chances. I don't think he'll whoop Floyd like Shane whopped Margarito assuming if Floyd was very rusty like Shane was after Margarito. Still, Floyd fought Mosley coming after a WIN, one of his biggest.

But Ortiz is Maidana's leftover right?

Why would Floyd wanna fight Maidana's leftover?

I watched Berto-Ortiz last night again and I came to the same conclusion.
    This is a mismatch.

Floyd will toy around with, even KO this guy if he wanted to make a statement.

The only thing I'm happy about is it resembles a tune-up fight enroute to Pac (lefties, anyone?).
And that's the only fight that's left for either of them. I'd love to see a trilogy, not glorified tune-ups.

You know i'd rather this fight than a Pacquiao fight with Ortiz as he might come out of it without his career being turned on its head. Mayweather will win clearly in a much more exciting than usual fight for him, maybe a scary moment or two from a hostile Ortiz, but he is too hittable to bank rounds against Floyd.

Its too soon for this calibre of fighter for Ortiz, but hopefully he can come out of a fight with Mayweather still ready to go on improving, rather than getting brutally knocked out in a war.

I would have liked to see Ortiz managed to improve as a fighter with a long career ahead of him rather than short term financial gains.

Excellent fight for FMJ. Ortiz is a worthy opponent at this stage.

No one is questioning his heart since the Berto fight, except you apparently, dickhead.

Mayweather will be too much for Ortiz. One-sided affair, except if Mayweather tries to make it competitive by banging with Ortiz and giving him opportunities instead of just outboxing him silly.

Will I watch it? For free, I will.

i don't think that ortiz could win even with a straight fight. remember that floyd fought mosley head-on and picked mosley apart with his speed and accurate punching. ortiz is a little wild and wide on some of his punches. floyd in an easy win no matter how he fights.

I think it's a **** fight for a supposed 'tune-up' that will lead Floyd back into retirement, never to face Pacquiao.
