I fully agree. It is a good fight, and I'm looking forward to it. Also agreed with the Pacweather subforum idea.
Definitely. Ortiz is better than ever in his career and should provide a good show in a losing effort, but for either Floyd or Manny to underestimate him would be a huge mistake. Young, hungry, and powerful, this kid wants to make a name for himself. He can box and punch so Floyd gonna have his hands full. Hell of a tune up before Pacman much better than a Spadafora fight. I mean, the winner between Pacman-Floyd afterwards fans would of wanted a fight with Ortiz anyways.
The only fights I would consider great for either fighter is Martinez or each other. The 2nd best option is Bradley, a proven fighter. I said before this fight was announced that Pac/PBF-Ortiz is one sided. Ortiz has done absolutely nothing to show he belongs with either guy. Losing to Maidana, failing to beat Peterson shows that. Beating 1 guy at a weight class who was considered to be overhyped anyways again doesnt prove anything. People will say its fair cos Floyd needs a tuneup after the layoff, well that his fault...if he retires again for another year after this will he need a tuneup again and be excused because of his lay off?
Agreed. If Floyd plans on going into retirement straight after - which is the most likely thing - then **** this lame 'tune-up' fight.
Pac fights a bunch of bums to stay active and Arum/TR hasn't contacted Golden Boy or Haymon in a year. How do you figure Arum/Pac want Mayweather? By confirming fights before current ones are over? Signing to fight Clottey when still negotiating with Floyd? Seriously, learn your **** or shut your yap.
they did late last year after the failed first negotiations. it was almost a done deal until floyd went on his vacation which lasted until just now that he decided to fight ortiz. floyd is wasting everybody's time and has fought tune-ups after tune-ups with a false impression that he would fight pacquiao next. and these bums pac are fighting are also the same bums floyd has avoided fighting in welterweight.
Marquez was a tuneup for Floyd and it's Pac next big fight. You're really bringing great and original arguments to the table yourself. Stick to hugging Khan's nuts with Laz and Darni.:deal
Floyd fighting a young lion is what boxing is all about!!! As long as Floyd is in the ring its all good!!!
I'm a massive Pacquiao fan, I pretty much detest Floyd Mayweather and everything he does and everything he stands for... ...but as a boxing fan, I'm excited about Mayweather-Ortiz. I think it's a very good choice of opponent, and should result in an engaging fight. Well done to Golden Boy for putting this one together, with Floyd not wanting to fight Manny this is the next best thing at the moment IMO. :bbb
Erm, that's probably because Floyd is a superior boxer to Pac. But that still didn't stop him cheating a lightweight on the scales. Oh, and Pac's alternative to a Mayweather fight was with a guy (Margarito) who Mayweather had no interest in fighting. We can go on all night, dawg. I can count on more reasonable discussions with them than I would with you, that's for sure. So I think I will. :good
You're on a boxing forum crying about Mayweather-Ortiz as a lame tuneup fight. Ortiz is a legit belt holder, coming off a signature win, southpaw, has pop, and deserves the fight more than any of Pac's recent opponents. Will it be an easy night for Floyd? Probably. Pac's had nothing but easy nights lately. It's called greatness. Floyd will be inactive for 16 months by fight night and you think he should be fighting Sergio above his weight class? Ortiz is the only fight other than Pac. Give it a rest.
Look, Pretty Boy Fred, its simple.... When a person who has a habit of being an awkward **** that flees into retirement every other fight, his appeal of Oh, I need a tune-up wears down over time. And as we saw in the JMM fight, we know Floyd is a gym rat thats less prone to the effects of inactivity than most fighters are. I believe he could walk into a Pacquiao fight tomorrow, and put on one hell of a schooling. Thats how good he is. And at you for trying to make out Ortiz is a legit threat. Only two fights ago, he was struggling with Peterson and many of us were calling him a joke. But now after he beats an overrated welterweight in a very competitive fight and Floyd names him as an opponent....he deserves this fight more than anyone else? atsch Oh, and let me say, I can pick two recent Pacquiao opponents (Margarito and Clottey) that would **** on Ortiz right now. Here's a poll which affirms this with the former - This content is protected This content is protected By the way, not once have I said Floyd should fight Martinez. I've always said Floyd should fight Pacquiao.
No. Because watching *******s and *****s going at it is comedy gold. You cant help yourself sometimes, you yourself join in. I'm enjoying myself as a ******* then a ***** after some time. Ahaha!
He wanted to fight Pac after Marquez but Pac backed out, after first agreeing, to the drug test request. Pac then signed to fight Clottey leaving Mayweather hanging. We don't need to get into this again but that is what happened the first time around. Marquez was intended to be the tuneup for Pac. I didn't say Ortiz was a legit threat but that he is a legit belt holder. He's also the highest ranked WW after Pac. If Floyd fought Bradley, he would be taking on a feather fisted JWW according to most. From a PR perspective, he needed to take on a legit WW that is perceived as a threat and Ortiz is the only fighter other than Pac out there who presents this opportunity. I don't care what a poll filled with mostly *******s says. It suits their cause to say that Clottey and Margo would beat Ortiz. Truth is, Margo and Clottey have not had a meaningful win in years and did not deserve the fight with Pac. They were selected because they were sellable names that did not present much of a challenge to Pac. Trust me, nobody wants to see Floyd-Pac more than me. Have a good day.
