Im shocked at some of the post fight responses ive seen.

Firstly, why is everyone forgetting about Ortiz's ILLEGAL head-butt, not only was it illegal but clearly delivered with bad intentions. It was clear from the off that Ortiz was getting increasingly frustrated as the rounds went on, and what he did was disgraceful.

Now, onto Floyd. I have watched the fight back many times, and Cortez DID give the fighters the go ahead to continue boxing, which makes the KO a legitimate one. However, that doesn't make it any less sportsman like. It was an all round ugly situation which should have been controlled better my the Ref. Why on earth Ortiz continued to apologies despite Floyd clearly giving him the signal that the apology was over, and it was time to fight. Ortiz as a boxer, should realise that once you have stepped foot in the ring it is ultimately up to you TO PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES. His team, should have done their homework, watched the Mosely fight and been prepared for this scenario.

As for the fight itself, it was good to see Floyd back in the ring, his skills clearly haven't deteriorated after the lay off and i was impressed with how he handled the much bigger Ortiz. His style, although not always the most action backed is ruthlessly efficient and effective. I thought Ortiz would have tried to catch Mayweather early, however he seemed content to give Floyd the center of the ring, where he excels.

Had the fight continued, i see Mayweather with a late stoppage. My pre fight prediction was Money to win a wide UD, however he seemed to be able hit Ortiz with that lightening right lead too often and ultimately would have broken him down.

It is a shame the fight ended the way it did, it is not going to increase Floyd's popularity. To top it all off, the outburst at Larry Merchant was uncalled for. Dont get me wrong, i am by no way Larry's biggest fan, but he is an OAP for christ sake.

Mayweather will take on Khan next, not Pacman IMO.

Cortez gave a very subtle signal. He was not even looking at both fighters when the punch was unloaded.

    ****ing disgrace.

I agree, the ref was shocking and should have taken control of the situation. When a situation like that arises, the ref needs to be on the ball and take charge.
