Manny is a fast starter, the likes of amir khan who spars with him on a regular basis says as much. Mayweather is a counter puncher, the guy likes to take his time to figure opponents out and it is in the early rounds where he has been troubled if at all. Hatton, Judah, Corley had limited success but success none the less in these early round whilst floyd was figuring them out.

Floyd needs to go into this one with a pre prepared gameplan and adapt from that not go in blind and expect to adapt in the ring.

foot speed is great but great foot workn and rhythm determines the geography of a fight.

Mayweather has good foot speed as well but his balance, rhythm and foot work is a little better, add in the fact he hold a reach advantage.

That reach is going to be a pain for manny in the fight for sure. However hatton cut the ring off nicely in that fight against mayweather whilst only taking one shot or none in the way in. Hatton also managed to land a leaping hook or other lunging in shot more than once on floyd in their fight despite having a collosal reach disadvantage.

Mayweather basically never jabbed in that fight. I'd be surprised to see him fight Manny in the same way. One of the big surprises of the JMM fight was the re-emergence of Floyd's jab, which he had long neglected.

I think Floyd's footspeed and sense of distance and timing is good enough to keep Pac from closing if Floyd doesn't want him to, but who knows? I could certainly be wrong. That's why it's a fun fight.

That was only because hatton was stupid enough to believe that he could walk through Floyd punches, eventually he became punch drunk and robed of his consciousness.

I doubt roach will tell pac to try and walk through floyd punches, even if he is able to take the shots, he wont win the fight that way.

floyd will toy pac.....pbf wont engage and potshot for the win....

pbf will ride that bike all night.....in the cotto fight, pac kinda struggled when cotto moves away and lets go of a jab which connects frequently....pbf is gonna pepper pac with jabs and lead rights and gonna frustrate pac footspeed or no footspeed....

How will Floyd deal with pressure, How will Floyd deal with fighting at a higher weight, How will Floyd deal with fighting a tough southpaw, How will Floyd deal with fighting an undefeated fighter. Now it's how will Floyd deal with amazing footwork? The same as always, adapt and use his natural skills to do the business.

I seriously doubt that!! floyd might act crazy sometime, but he's not stupid.

PBF's footwork is just as good....space, reach, and his accurate potshots are going to drive PAC crazy!

Space will be key because i dont care what PAC does with is feet as some of you are harping on and how fast he is....space between them combined with the reflexes accurate punching, reach and skills of PBF will cause more of a problem than PAC's footwork.

I rewatched the hatton fight again. Hatton was getting through in those early rounds. Also mayweather has a fast jab which ricky managed to either slip or walk straight through. Cotto on the other hand has knocked fighters on their arse with jabs and this was evident in the pacquiao fight.

Totally agree. What I look at is how Marquez was able to make adjustments after the knockdown in the second fight. He would take a step back when Pac stepped in to punch and counter. They talk about Pac's high workrate. However, I believe in the 4th or 5th round he only connected on 6 punches. Pacs power and speed can be nullified.
