For every problem solved, there always awaits one more around the corner. That seems to be how things work with Mayweather-Pacquiao. If it's not the testing that's holding things up, it's the vacations. If it's not the vacations, it's the dates/venues. And when it's not the dates/venues, it's the purse split. And eventually, when it's not the purse split, you can bet your ass there'll be something else. And as ridiculous as it may sound, that something could easily be the weight :-(. Pacquiao has already expressed his desire to remain at 147, and by the end of the year, Mayweather may well have found himself another convenient excuse to make Pacquiao again do something he's not comfortable with. This content is protected Golden Boy have themselves a pretty nice 4-man junior middleweight tournament there for May 5th. The winner of Canelo-Mosley (Canelo) can take with him his WBC belt to face the WBA winner of Mayweather-Cotto (Mayweather). Nov/Dec 2012. The old superstar vs the young superstar. USA vs Mexico. Two major world titles on the line. Hard to resist if you're Golden Boy and Mayweather. And of course, when Mayweather emerges the winner of this junior middleweight tournament, he'll be holding two 154 world titles, his power at the negotiation table will be boosted (with the claim of having conquered another weight division), and he could argue the case that Pacquiao should come up to fight him. :think Sounds crazy, I know. But I wouldn't be too shocked if this was to happen.
That won't happen. I believe if Pac stays around he'll eventually take a lesser share like he said, but he's not budging on weight. Didn't Floyd ask for it to be 154 initially?
yes this is my worry point. if pac say concedes yet again with the split, floyd would next demand the weight. there is no satisfying floyd's endless demands and it has to stop somewhere.
he will demand manny can't perform karaoke a month before the fight and buboy must weightin at 160 to be in the corner
Really? Good on them. Don't see it having much influence on Pacquiao-Mayweather, though. At both 147 and 154. They don't struggle with the weights at all.
I believe I heard talks about it when negotiations first started, but that seems like ages ago. I did a quick google search and found this so I think he did at, too lazy right now to find more though.. Hopefully someone will see these posts and say if it was true or not with better sources. 10 oz 154lb
Oh yes, I remember that. It was never verified, though. Perhaps it wasn't even a big issue. Mayweather probably dropped the demands as soon as Pacquiao's lot said 'no'. Who knows. :conf But I'll say this now, if Mayweather does go down this 154 route, then I can't see how anyone will be able to defend him. Even with the two world titles on the line, he doesn't have the right to force Pacquiao up in weight. Especially when he himself is clearly a 147 fighter. It's just totally unnecessary. It'll be almost as bad as his drug-testing nonsense.
