Mayweather-Pacquiao was 7 years ago.

It turned out exactly the way I expected , Floyd RAN for 12 rounds, then Vegas gave him the Mafia controlled results.

 

How can you run when you out land and out work your opponent? How does that work?

 

I'm yet to watch it.

At a mates flat, don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a fight in my life. Sorely disappointed with what occurred. I will say that I didn’t see the “schooling” that a lot of people claim to have seen. I saw two elite fighters, both past prime, engage in a cagey affair. Both clearly had respect for one another’s skill sets.

The fight would have been something else entirely had it taken place a few years earlier. Don’t know who would have won, but I think it could have lived up to expectations.

 

I think the "schooling" was how Mayweather effectively shutdown Pac's offense and did just enough to survive. Fans expected Pac to hurt Floyd with a flurry of punches and that didn't happen.

The thing is Pac wasn't the swarmer that he was in his early days (that style ended up being part of his identity to non-Pac fans and casuals because that was the first impression he made in the boxing world) nor was he a boxer puncher that he was in his prime. He was a counter puncher in this fight, and he was basically fighting one of if not THE best counter puncher in boxing history in Floyd Mayweather.

What's strange about the fight was how wildly different the reactions were. There is a video on youtube that showed how some fans in Spain thought Pac won. Supposedly Japan thought so as well. Certain Pac fans also claim that he won, but I don't see it TBH. Though I also thought it was a closer fight than the "schooling" that some people claim it was.

 

There was no schooling, that is Floyd fan mythology.

The score was 8-4.

You could get to 9-3 , but you could more easily get to 7 - 5.

Any other scores are mythology.

Both men. pas best, but Pac much further degraded from the 2009-2010 version than Floyd was.

And even so, Pac won every engagement when Floyd came forward (not often).

This why Pac ( and Floyd senior) thought Pac was winning.

But he wasn't. Floyd made him miss a lot and Floyd pot-shotted to a pretty clear win.


If Floyd had not gone on that mission to "clean up boxing" in 2010, this would have been a very close pick'em fight, and I would have slightly favoured Pac to win.

 

But the fact is He DID have a torn rotator cuff He'informed the NSAC & Usada had also agreed Pac could have a LEGAL Torodol shot before the fight because no one wanted it cancelled.
When the doc went to administer the shot the NSAC refused to let him have it because Pac had not ticked the right box on a form claiming he was injured previously. Pac was beaten before he even left his dressing room
But on the other hand.........
The notorious mr Mayweather had been caught red handed 24 hours before the fight receiving an ILLEGAL, EXCESSIVE 750 ml of Saline drip This was thankfully brought to light by Thomas Hauser. Mayweather was breaking THREE of the NSAC's own rules regarding saline drip treatment. He NEVER requested a TUE for the saline. He received several times the amount a medical clinic would have administered. Plus it was administered in Mayweathers own home NOT a Medical Facility. THese are the 3 rules Mayweather broke.
When the Nsac ( Bob Bennett) was asked what he was going to do about it. His response was to issue this BS " mr Mayweather did nothing wrong so we will not be investigating" ROFLMAO REALLY !!!!?????
Then they had the gall to issue him a retroactive TUE to cover the Saline THREE WEEKS AFTER the event
If ever a fight should have been struck off & declared a NO Contest that was it .
In my own honest unbiased opinion Floyd should have been punished for breaking the rules he KNEW existed & everyone really knows why he did it don't we folks??????? THey'll say boxing isn't corrupt too

Yep. Like I said, the shoulder and in another post the, IV took so much from that fight. More questions were created than answered. Too bad, could have been a great fight.

 

That was a great day for me. Watched it at a sports bar with a small group of Mayweather supporters, almost got into a fight with Pacquiao supporters (who were Irish for some reason) when we celebrated the decision. Then straight after the fight the Kiwis beat the Kangaroos in the rugby league test and MANU VATUVEI himself was man of the match. After that I put the moves on a female acquaintance I’d known for 20 years and that went well too. Didn’t end up being terribly popular with my on/off girlfriend at the time, but eventually I dumped her and now I live with the girl I put the moves on after the FOTC….

 

Easy work in 2015 2009 or 2010 or anytime. Pac is too flawed to beat pbf. If you can't in 4 fights with jmm cant stop getting hit with the same right hand and can't beat him clearly you're not beating Floyd.

 

The only person helped by that fight was Floyd Mayweather.

Manny isn't good enough to get a clean win over Jmm, so it was expected that he loses to the best boxer of his era, especially with Floyd's I.q and defence
