I just noticed something, and I came across an interesting video. Go to 12:10 in this video.

In this video. he's catching the punches in the same way, Roger catches them with the pads. I think when he's doing the padwork with Roger, he's not just punching for offense, he's learning where the punches are going to be from all angles, and then where to catch them. In other words he turning himself into his opponent, by throwing his own accurate shots, and memorizing where he can pick them off. It's sort of like practicing defense and offense at the same time. What the actual hell.

Mayweather Sr. training looks like both D and O. It's just that roger does it at a faster pace.

I thought this was quite obvious, but I guess not everybody understands the tactical and technical side of boxing.

I wouldn't call it that. He's more drilling what to do so in a fight he can come back with a counter without having to think about it.

Here's a nice article about it if you're interested http://www.expertboxing.com/boxing-...oxing-skills-take-your-game-to-the-next-level

Arguably the most important tool for defense is the jab

Especially against big punchers, the jab and footwork

Big punchers need to set up the shot

A great jab forces a reset

I also like something not many guys do anymore but was very old stool

And that's jabbing a punch, requires excellent timing of course
You just catch a punch, makes the other guy reluctant to throw it because he knows you've seen it coming

Boxing is just chess with blood man

It's all about how you make your style work against the other guys style
You win the fight in the gym
    With conditioning
And also with strategy and knowing how to counter the other guy

Yea I always felt it was a reflex tool to keep him sharp as well, Khan seems to be implementing this for the wrong reasons

Its for reflex and muscle memory, which is what Floyd uses in defence and offense.

  15. Unlike some *****s that never boxed here, I did. Don't overthink it, it's just to practice coordination.
