Mayweather put on a masterclass performance - as usual.

Is that all that matters is the punch stats watch the fight again. I know I wont change anyone's mind but Mayweather just banked in the rounds.

Punch stats can be misleading but people have been saying Pac threw more.

But Floyd controlled the whole fight apart from a couple rounds. Pac moved exactly how Floyd wanted him to.

To me, and I'm a Pac fan:

    1. Floyd was more prepared for the fight. He did exactly what he needed to do.

    2. Pac was not prepared for the scenario he faced and it was the exact scenario that was most likely. (And how can that happen unless there was a real disconnect in his camp?)

    3. I am forced to be kind about this out of respect for Pacquiao's past achievements.

    4. I am not sold on this being a "Masterclass" performance. Floyd did not need that to beat what Pacquiao brought to the fight.

    5. I now believe their common opponents lie somewhere between their skill levels, which are far apart. Pacquiao likely worked hard to beat these fighters. Floyd likely did not.

    6. I don't buy excuses very well. If Pac was injured, it should have been made public when it happened, not after losing in a miserable effort.

    7. I'm made sad by Pacquiao: saying he thought he won; not giving Floyd full credit immediately; how bad Freddie Roach looks; and ANY talk of a re-match.

    8. I personally scored the fight 7-5 rounds due to my belief that in 2 rounds Pacquiao was more effective while scoring less. That could easily be 9-3 on anyone else's card, which I would respect and accept.

ABSOLUTELY Full Credit to Floyd and His Every Effort.

I'm not questioning that Mayweather controlled the fight, but he got stunned twice - 4th and 6th round, got stood up twice with right hook counters in the third. Far from a masterclass.

Even so far for me in the 6th am rewatching it.

You said it yourself. He countered Manny at will and made him hesitant to throw, and when he did get off he missed. Mayweather's jab was in his face all night and the right was ready to shoot at any time.

    This fight was not close!

Say what you want but Mayweather was getting caught with shots that I didn't see when I watched it live.

Main difference in the 1st 2 rounds were pretty much 2 stiff right cross for Mayweather. That's far from a masterclass.

Agreed entirely. After the first two rounds went his way, I was starting to worry about a shutout... Mayweathers plan & execution were both near flawless, and it was a great fight to watch and appreciate. I for one will miss him when he retires.

Like I said this fight was far from a masterclass, Pacquiao was able to stun him several times. Mayweather goes into high guard when he's hurt.

I wouldn't say he got stunned at all. Getting hit doesn't equate being stunned.

Can you explain the high guard and letting Pacquiao tee off without return fire?

Because usually Mayweather throws a shot in between combos, but he didn't when he got clipped in 4th and 6th round.

Pacquiao hits hard, the high guard is so that he doesn't get stunned and weathers the storm.

There were many many shots being missed by the commentators, short hooks were getting to floyd when he ducked, body shots on the ropes etc

    Absolute masterclass.

This kid is one of the really great ones and it's been a privilege to watch his entire career.

Honestly I'd like to see him retire since he has absolutely nothing left to prove to anyone. If he wants to continue to challenge himself though, winning the lineal MW championship against a guy I'd heavily favor him against (Cotto,) would be a great way to go out.
