He did it by trading and giving him a target that lured Pac in. If JMM didn't have the grit and ability to brawl he'd be done, same with Morales. Both guys ate huge shots in their fights against Pacman. Nobody has made it out unscathed.

No, the proper defensive movement helped him establish the timed counters to clip emmanuel.

Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, marg, etc didn't have Marquez skills and looked like sitting ducks in there.

No they didn't have the speed, chin, combination punching and power of Marquez. You elude to defense but it was JMM offense which kept him in the fights.

Juan had to use defensive footwork to get his offense on.

That's a hard comparison to make, especially taking into consideration the weight.

Oscar, Margarito, and arguably Clottey had/have an equally, or even better chin than Marquez. Power is definitely a hard one to judge, but P4P...I would rate Oscar a harder hitter, and possibly Cotto as equally hard a puncher as Marquez. In terms of speed, again, a number I would say are faster P4P than Marquez.

Mayweather might well indeed cut Pacquiao up with precision punches

It was Juan's skills that sealed the deal. A little man like Juan definitely doesn't have a better power and chin than the likes of Oscar and marg.

Juan is definitely faster than Cotto and marg.

Like I said, man...a hard one to judge.

In terms of P4P at the time...Marquez had the right mix.

I hear you, they all had one or two. Juan was just the total package at that weight. A nightmare for Pacs style. An aggressive, hard hitting counter puncher who can take a shot..

Look at the Agapito Sanchez fight, He gave Pac hell as well. And it was his combinations that caused as much problems as his movement and speed. You just need a fighter that is willing to go and get in the trenches with Manny as well as keep standing and have enough power to earn his respect.

u cant beat pacquiao fighting hes fight. if you say fighters whos willing to go in there and throw combinations will beat pac, its because pacman has no defense, pacman wants to brawl because of hes advantages on speed and power. neutralize the angles by footwork/movement, and pac will be hesitant to throw combinations.
