Tell me why Margarito deserves a shot at PBF if he beats Cotto? ... Cotto is still the bigger name ... Cotto still has more clout ... Cotto w/ 1 loss is better than Margarito w/ 5 L's ... No disrespect to Toney because I think he's an OK fighter ... but the thing is ... the public barely knows his name ... even he won he would be labeled as "the guy that beat Cotto" ... no one will know him by his name.

He may get bumped up to headlining a venue on WCB but thats about it ... it makes no money in PBF v Margarito which doesn't make sense.

The loss to Williams would still be looming in the air - especially if Williams loses the rematch to Quintana ...

The win over Quintana looked better for Cotto and made Margarito look bad. Here's a guy that Cotto crushed - yet he beat the guy that took out the "most feared WW" ...

Which begs the question - when doen does he defend his claim of being the best WW? How long can he be given a pass for holding up the Ring belt if he isn't willing to fight the best available WWs?

Floyd said that he would fight this guy on national TV ...

He explained why the fight isn't happening right now ... #1 Arum ... #2 Cotto's fan base outside of NY & PR ... #3 his PPV numbers aren't up to par.

Exactly. Vs Ricky Hatton, not even a top 7 Welterweight. That was after a year of holding the division up. Look at what he's doing this year for an encore.

We all know who the next top ranked WW is.

Hey brotha ... Hatton was a top 7 WW ... he got a decision against Louie Collazo and won the WBA WW strap.

He was going to enter the WW division w/ a top 10 ranking anyway ... he was the true LWW champion and w/ that along w/ moving up in weight solidifies a top 10 ranking.

Cotto now has the belt that Ricky Hatton vacated ... he didn't beat Ricky Hatton for that belt ... he beat Quintana - who before then wasn't even a top 10 WW himself ... he was also entering his first title fight.

When is Cotto going to defeat a champion for their strap?

Everyone knows FMJ and Cotto are the top ranked boxers in the best division in boxing . . . to make excuses for this ducking that Fraud is doing again is pointless. Anyone who accepts this ducking is not a true boxing fan, simply a Fraud Groupie.

Beating Quintana at 147 is better than beating Hatton at 147

How is that when before he fought Cotto he never had a championship fight?

Quintana is 1-1 in championship fights w/ a bull**** WBO strap ... he's a good boxer to watch ... but he's not on the level of Hatton.

How was a win over an unknown better than a win over an elite fighter?

Quintana and Cotto fought for the title that Ricky Hatton vacated ... vacated ... vacated ...

Hatton beat a champion for his belt ... Cotto never did and Quintana just did this year.

After the Cotto fight he was totally wiped out of the WW picture and was looked at as somewhat of a stepping stone.

    At 147, Carlos whoops Hatton.

This is the problem - fans overestimate wins from their favorite fighters' opposition. Hatton's win over Collazo certainly was not an impressive performance. The last rd was actually a prelude for what Floyd would do to Ricky.

But why are you comparing Quintana to Collazo? A common opponent they have defeated Luis but lost to Carlos. This was a long time ago though... I feel the best comparison comes from Hatton and Mosley, since they both have Collazo on their resume. Based off those performances, wouldn't you have to agree that Shane, even at 35, is a MUCH better WW than Ricky?
It depends; when is the WBC champ going to step in w/ Cotto?
