The tickets went on sale in January 2007 so the fight was announced before that. So that's already a minimum of 5 months to promote the fight, so the 4 month promotion was a lie.

Floyd is announcing who he is fighting in June, 5 months on it will be November. Do you get the boxing game now?

The promotion for that fight kicked off at the Super Bowl. Ditto, for Mayweather's fights against Mosley and Cotto. The promotion for his fight against Ortiz kicked off in June. You do not need 6 months to promote a fight.

 

Nah the promotion automatically begins as soon as the fight begins. The beginning of the promotion isn't necessary the first press conference etc, it's more the articles written in newspapers, discussions that happens amongst fight fans, journalists, media etc. This creates the hype and it begins when the fight is announced.

I would be all up for a September bout because 4 months is all this fight really needs and I know it will be promoted greatly. But it just makes more sense for it to be in May 2014, especially for PPV numbers, which seems to be a focal point in boxing right now.

 

well if floyd is gonna fight canelo he has to fight him now. if he fights someone else then fights canelo he is gonna be even older and even more outta his prime . even tho hes barely outta his prime hes still a beast. if i were him i would fight canelo now, keep the fans from bitchin and fite canelo now before he develops even more.
