[SIZE=-1] "I won't let the sport of boxing retire me, I'll retire from the boxing."

What exactly does he mean by that?
    :huh

Means he wont let it ruin him and force him out but that hell get out before that happens. Would be smart if he wasnt so young and still had so much left in him

Hes not going to let people like the ones here who want him to fight every single fighter that is unbeaten out there, his not going to let people make him fight to prove something over and over, and he knows they will continue to do this until someone eventually beats him due to his age or physical ability.

He is the best in the sport, give him the credit he deserves

He's talking about his evil twin brother Ricardo "Boxing" Mayweather.

A more cynical person might say "I want to go out on a win, not a loss."

Not saying thats his entire reason, but thats a way to look at it.

Disapointing we wont see more of him but deffinatly the most sensible thing to do. How many times do people complain when someone doesnt retire and goes way to far

Then he's not gonna be like them...Top 10 ATGs. PBF needs to fight the best at welter before he retires.

He doesnt have to hell always be well regarded , and has the chance now to do one of the greatest things a boxer can , retire with **** loadsa cash and with your marbles still intact. Sounds shallow but why keep risking your life in the ring. Specially as hes got kids who will need him as they get older as a dad and not a slobbering messed up guy who cant concentrate properly
