Just pretend the fight sells 3 million PPV flat, compare this to the 2.4 million Mayweather De La Hoya sold.

3/2.4=1.25 (comparison ratio)
1.25*77M= 96.25 (comparison ratio*total fight purses)
96.25/2=48.125M (50/50 Split)
When Floyd claims to make around 40M fighting people like ortiz, fighting pac for 8.125M more just isn't worth it, why should pac, who was guaranteed 22M against marquez, most like made 25-28M make 20M at least more than he has ever made?

The maths fully make sense as to why mayweather wants more, 50/50 would just make everything easy.

so if pac makes $30M each fight now, why would he get just $10M more or just the same amount (if $30M is correct) for a floyd fight which is still the biggest fight in boxing right now?

I don't think anyone ever tried to defend the $30M offer, I wasn't even aware of this till about ten minutes ago, and yeah even I, a guy who stand behind Floyds stance that he should get more thinks that offer is ridiculously unfair and low.

Arums counter offer of 45-50 has my projected 50/50 inside it, therefore would obviously be rejected by Floyd.

Without official publication of Pacquiao's numbers you can't say he outsold Floyd and I can't say the opposite, we can only go off the official numbers we do know, which puts Floyd in front.

It looks like both fighters know that there isn't enough money in this fight for them to double their purse from a usual fight, but because the news have said it enough times they have convinced themselves that is the level of money they deserve, therefore the fight will never happen, people who think both fighters could stand to make 60-80M each are not counting for the fact that an awful lot of people who buy Mayweather PPV's also buy Pac PPV's and visa versa, If it's ever going to happen they both need to drop their demands.

The buzz around a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight will be significantly less so than it would have prior to Pacquiao winning the decision from JMM in their third fight. Now, everyone knows it will be a big, built up promotion with endless guarantees and now everyone also knows the public villain will win, relatively easily too. Whereas a year ago, the mindless so called "fans" jumping on the sports' bandwagon thought that Pacquiao was a bonafide top 10 ATG. I think those people can kindly admit they were off by about 20 to 40 places and log off, never to return.
