I would love to see may mart but ONLY at 160 to me having the bout at mid weight is the only marketable way to pitch the bout i.e $ going 4 the 160 crown i think this is the only way this fight makes $ and cents as imho it will add tens of millions of dollars to the bout what do you think
Both guys would weigh the same either way and have no competitive advantages as opposed to 154. No reason not to have it at 160.
I agree it would be way cooler if th fight was at middleweight but just saying its the middleweight champion will get you some attention. I don't think the bout is that marketable anyways. And I think its probably the riskiest fight floyd's ever taken. SO I don't think its going to happen.
Pacquiao fighting at 150 for the 154 lbs belt is fine, Mayweather fights anywhere but 160 for the middleweight title, that's bad... But I agree, I don't see the point in catchweight fights.
martinez is not big enough name yet. Maybe if he wins the rematch with pavlik and paul again. I don't see floyd taking the fight unless sergio is known for a while.
+1, it's not wise for Floyd to take a fight with Martinez or Williams when a fight with pac is still on the table. His fame rises after beating pac, and then he'll be able to do impressive numbers fighting guys who aren't known to the general public.
I don't think he will win those rematches. I think Martinez catches opponents by surprise in many ways, and that he won't surprise them with anything a second time.
Martinez has been on HBO quite a few times and I think that he is as hot now as he's going to be. Mayweather's popularity is at an all time high so it makes sense. If Maweather wants to surpass Oscar as boxing's cash cow then he's going to have to carry ppv's entirely on his own from time to time. Although he did 1 million versus Marquez, he was coming off a two year hiatus which played heavily into the fight's ppv success. I think that this fight versus Martinez will truly gauge whether or not he is a massive ppv star or a very smart fighter who does well numbers wise when he has the ideal opponent. I think that it's safe to say that the 2.4 million that he did versus Oscar was as a result of Oscar's popularity. Then again, if his numbers versus Mosley surpass those of Oscar versus Mosley, it means he can sell sand to the desert and he really is king!
Man u have turned into a Martinez hater since Pavlik got whooped. Didnt you see in both the PW and KP fights that Martinez kept making adjustments throughout the fight while those idiots just kept coming forward throwing punches. Its just that KP did not have the necessary foot work to catch Martinez. PW was a lil more succesful with his reach and speed but MArtinez beat them both.
