Mayweather should face algeri next

Styles. When has Floyd ever had to chase a guy down? When you are slow, and come right to him, Floyd has countering opportunities to shine and win on points. Guerrero, Ortiz, Canelo, and Maidana were all sitting ducks.

What does Floyd do with a guy that's rangy, circling, has speed, is taller, and won't push Floyd to the ropes where Floyd can defend and counter and rack up points. Floyd's not a hunter.

 

In other words, I don't feel like it.

 

If Pacquiao can find his range, so can Floyd. Think man.

 

Pacquiao played the aggressive hunter for 12 rounds and took repeated risks. One of the most impressive things that Pac did was the right hook, left hook combo whenever Algieri was turning a corner. Floyd has NEVER implemented a strategy even remotely close to being an aggressive hunter and his risk-adverse style isn't conducive to it.

Algieri isn't going to come forward all night or stand and trade w/ Floyd, so the countering opportunities will be far and few. Algieri will be circling all night.

So tell me. How does Floyd beat Algieri?

 

He won't chase him down. You're missing the point. He'll walk him down with jabs and leads, then counter the hell out of him when he actually throws.

Why are you pretending that Floyd doesn't have faster footwork, better footwork, and better lateral movement than Algieri?

Walking down a guy only works when he's not fleet-footed, stationary, or comes forward, i.e. every single guy Floyd has fought in his career. Floyd would have to chase, and he's no chaser. Algieri shows lots of lateral movement and is constantly circling. You can't close distance by walking someone down who barely stops moving.
