I respect your post but in reality Haymon, Oscar, and Richard aren't going to ignore the economics and it ignoring that in ANY BUSINESS is not smart business. Simply put, if your a Pacquiao fan, sure it sucks that the numbers hurt your argument so bad because "they are what they are." But they aren't going to ignore the economics of it as it is still a business man.
Okay, well I thought you were implying that because Manny would get double his highest payday, that Floyd should get double his highest payday as well.
Not at all:thumbsup I'm simply saying that Floyd should not have to ignore the economics of the negotiations and the FACT that the numbers support him and not Manny.
i dont favor any fighter over the other - just want to see the fight happen maybe oscar should remember why he didnt get the rematch tito then, because boxing lost on that fight too i know everyone wants to max their profit, but like i said earlier, they are cutting off their nose to spite their face if it doesnt - nobody gets paid and neither fighter gets to call himself king of the hill bottom line is nobody loses if the fight gets signed - everybody makes a killing
Your right neither gets paid. Floyd can go on to make $45-50 million for a fight (his revenue keeps getting higher and higher) and Manny can continue to make $20-$25 million for his fights (his stock has dropped since Marquez 3). So why would Floyd take $52.5 million when he can stay in that ballpark anyways. Manny can't make that nor get in that ballpark. Floyd is the A side in negotiations with Manny.
G2G. To the thread topic the fight can still happen. I remember people saying Floyd was scared of Shane after May-Marquez. They said Floyd would never fight him and Floyd was scared etc etc... Sergio can still get the fight next year just as everyone said Shane would never happen, now they have a new name to fill in Shane's name. The fight can still be made, just give it a few more months. Floyd can stay away from fights for a year but he can't stay away from the boxing gym for more than 1-3 months.
I'm just asking simple questions man, the whole point of me entering this thread was to say my peace. That being Floyd cannot still claim to be the best if he refuses to fight both of his challengers to the crown. If he doesn't want to fight his competition to the P4P #1 title, then his claim to that title is false. That's when you showed up and started throwing your numbers at me, which I have admitted is my Kryptonite. At no time did I ever want to be in this discussion about the details of the contracts with you.
Martinez can't make 154, as evidenced by his wanting to take on Cotto at a catchweight. Until he confirms he can make that weight and be healthy, it's a moot point. Anybody complaining about the Pac fight still not coming off and not blaming BOTH parties, especially Arum, is an idiot. That is all.
Just in case it got missed: Jan 18 2012: From the scene: "If Sergio Martinez can make 150, we can make the fight, absolutely. There are no excuses. If he can make 150, lets make it happen. I'm a little bit different from the other guys. I think he has a very, very impressive style," Mayweather said."
