I don't think Mayweather Senior's role in Hatton's defeat is as profound as Team Hatton suggest but, on the other hand, I don't think he is entirely innocent.

Hatton had shown a remarkable change from his normal style when he fought Mallignaggi but didn't seem to be at the races during the Pacquiao fight's first 2 minutes. He looked like he was going brawl rather than box and this, I believe, most have been Mayweather's tactics for the fight: let Hatton's size count.

All these things likely had a bigger effect but you could see they were never together as a team.

The greatest effect of all however was Manny being a better fighter

As soon has Hatton lost, everybody was going to trott this line out. It was inevitable.

Obviously it didn't help, but it's a bit of a coincidence that the booze just so happened to effect him when he was fighting an agressive fighter on top of his game when Ricky had his hands down.

    It's the booze
