Damn everytime i read one of his interviews/quotes, I realize even more how much smarter he is than the rest of his wacko family.

 

Mayweather Sr knows his stuff. I can see the fight going just how he said it would. Now if Teddy Atlas would have said that and jinxed Cotto MArgarito wins by KO hahaa

 

He has some good points, however, lets not forget that the reason why Margarito is able to land is not because he is such a sniper, but more because of the amount of punches he throws. He throws so many punches, not to mention many are power shots, that his opponents are only able to avoid so many before they get caught. As of a natural instinct, many try to retaliate and get him to pay; he lures his opponents in to wanting to trade. Before his opponent knows it, he's already got them playing Margo game and by they realize it, its too late... The pace of the fight has been set. This is not to say Margarito is not accurate... There are some fights where he has thrown so many power shots from different angles and he seems to find the target right on.

Margarito has tons of experience and he has perfected his fight game. Its a gritty-balls out style that is not for the faint of heart. The question is, how will Cotto nuetralize Margarito's style. Against Shane Mosley, Cotto showed he could stick with a fight plan and use his head, rather than to fight with pride. But then again, Shane doesn't push you around like Margarito does. With all that is at stake, being that their natural styles brings a big clash in the ring, not to mention the PR vs Mexico rivalry- Will Cotto decide to fight an intelligent and efficient fight? Or will he want to show those millions of fans watching that he ain't going to back down...

 

I haven't twisted his words. That is precisely what he was talking about.

If a boxer plans on using lateral movement to punch and get out he is not going to be punching in combination. He is going to get in to throw one punch and either tie up or get out of Dodge.

Considering the size advantage even a simple 1-2 puts Cotto within range of being hit. Anything more than that and he might as well be sitting down on his punches for more effect.

This comes out as a side issue but given Margarito's always been the taller, bigger and stronger man in the ring, his kayo is ratio is nothing to write home about, no?

 

Coz he won 8 million dollars and the Ring/Lineal/WBC title against Baldomir.
