[BQUOTE=Man_Machine;7076720]I suggested that it was debatable as to whether Mayweather fought a better Hatton than Pacquiao or not. Making comparisons with a bout that took two years before Hatton faced Mayweather and three and a half years prior to him meeting Pacquiao is not proof that Hatton was a better/worse fighter between Othe Mayweather and Pacquiao bouts. You are also failing to take styles into consideration and the nature of the first KD against Pacquiao, whereby Hatton hurled a left-hand, which missed by a country mile. Pacquiao's well timed right just helped Hatton to the floor.

Yours is not, by itself, sufficient argument to convince me that Hatton was better when he faced Mayweather.

The last line of your post is a new assertion and not one I fully understand.[/QUOTE]

Making comparisons is what proves if its the same fighter or not ... hatton wasn't @ his best based on his track record and that's all u can go by ... u have a point with the styles thing but hatton has taken punches like that in the past ... this is where my point comes into play ... hatton has taken that punch before ... pacs doesn't have a killer right and hatton is proven to walk thru killer rights ... if it were down the stretch I would mayb have a different point of view ...

Actually most the fans thought JMM won both fights, and Hatton hadn't fought the top dogs at 140 since the Tyszu win 4years before.

And if Pac tried to fight Mayweather he would have signed the contract and let them take 2 drops of blood to see if he was cheat or not

I never said anything about mays power ... @ any weight pac has shown more power than may ... may has nice punches but in terms of power I think its decent ... ill take mayweather left over pacs right anyday ... speed accuracy power .. but that's a different issue ... ur right the punch u don't see coming is the one that hurts and mayb that's the case ... but the way I c a good hatton didn't show up ..

    Nothing,

he will beat Pac get credit for about a week then. Then all the hype will turn toward Paul Williams and how Mayweather is scared to fight him.

Lol I didn't see ur comment sorry ... collazo was down the stretch .. I didn't see the other 2 .. I think I saw him get dropped once by a whiteboy and if recall he stopped him that same round or the round after something like that .. I don't know those guys but since those moments hatton has taken shots from better punchers and he walked through them ... my argument is that hatton wasn't @ his best in the pac fight and can u honestlly tell me he was?

Yes, making comparisons can support an argument. However, using the Hatton/Tszyu bout is not an appropriate benchmark for a comparison in this case. As I have already pointed out, it took place two years prior to Hatton/Mayweather. Moreover. Hatton's performance against Tszyu has never been replicated by him since then.

Who's to say that the decline of Hatton didn't start immediately after the Tszyu bout and that both Mayweather and Pacquiao benefited from this equally? After all, Mayweather caught Hatton with a Left-Hook that I doubt carried the same power as Tszyu's punches were able to deliver, and yet it sent Hatton tumbling.

Therefore, it's as reasonable for me to say that Hatton was in the same condition against Mayweather as he was when he faced Pacquaio. The only established difference being that Hatton faced FMJ at 147, while his bout with Pacquiao was at 140 - a division in which Hatton had never been defeated.
